Breaking Traditions (07/05/06)

Well, just two weeks after sharing all of my theme park traditions with you, I must be honest and let you know I totally blew it this time at Disneyland.

Oh, some of the traditions remained intact. For example, we did go to Disneyland first, and we did go through the left tunnel, even stopping to take a picture. That is where I left tradition. At the tunnel before even stepping onto Main Street it was as if it was our first time in Disneyland and all traditions fell by the wayside.

This trip was real weird. I didn't step into a store (aside from the quickie trip for an autograph book) until we had been there for three days. Wow that is totally unlike me. I never walked into the Crystal Shoppe, on Main Street or in New Orleans Square. I also never walked into Disney Timeworks and bought neither a clock nor a watch.

On this hot June vacation I never saw a jacket, let alone looked at one. This is the first trip in years that I never bought a jacket. Or a watch, or clock, or piece of crystal.

For this trip to the Disneyland Resort I broke every tradition that has held fast for years. And it feels freeing, yet scary. On our trip this winter, I will buy a jacket and get back to tradition somewhat.

It was very easy to skip all of those standard purchases when I have another visit to Disneyland looming in the next five months or so to save my money for. Oh, and don't get me wrong, I did buy something big. Something wonderful that is actually the biggest reason that I didn't buy anything. Of course I will share with you later what I did buy (2 items) that are incredible.

The reason I am sharing this with you though is to let you know that occasionally it is okay to buck tradition. I did it this time and survived. Sure, I may have started knew traditions but won't know yet until our next trip.

Now that I am safely home though you can look forward to the Little Dose of Disney installments. I did miss doing them while at Disneyland.
