Disney Broke My Heart….then Mended It

The past two days have been pretty tough for me.   Yesterday seven people posted on various message boards that they had been contacted to be in the Top 20 for Disney’s Chief Magic Official position. I really thought I had the CMO position nailed, and for sure would be in not just the Top 20, but also the Top 3.

Instead I was not one of the seven contacted, but never lost hope.  After all, the rules for the contest stated that the Top 20 would be contacted ‘on or about February 7th’ and yesterday was only the 6th.

Now it is late afternoon on the 7th and I still have not gotten the coveted phone call.  All day long I have been hoping the phone would ring and my dreams would come true.  So far, it has been a silent phone today.

It has been a day of many emotions for me, some very un-Disney-like I must admit.  But then I remembered something.  This job was for the person who could provide magic while at Disney Resorts AND while at home.

I then remembered part of my application, and some of my responses to how I provide magic for those around me.  One simple way came to me, and I decided that I would try it – I needed something to put a smile back on my face, and help my broken heart to heal.

So I did it.  I put on Disney music and before the first song was over I was smiling.  Yes, Disney Music is helping to make me feel much more Disney-like.  One of the first songs I heard was Jonatha Brooks singing ‘I’ll Try’ and there was an instant change in me.

This contest was fun to do, and I really enjoyed doing my video.  I will never forget the experience and will use this to make my next entry even better!

My dream is still to be a Cast Member one day.  I refuse to give up the Dream.  But I want to say thanks Disney for the invitation to try, and for then making me feel better with the wonderful music.

If you are one of the lucky 20 and would like to have me put your video on our site, please just head to the message boards.  I am trying to get all Top 20 videos there for others to enjoy!  And much good luck for those of you that have gotten to this next step in the search for Disney’s first Chief Magic Official!
