Scrapbook or Photo Album (07/10/06)

For years I have been putting pictures into photo albums and then stuffing the albums onto a shelf. Years later there are many forgotten memories hidden between the pages of a photo album. The pictures may trigger a memory, but sometimes a picture isn't enough to provide you with the full memory of that past few moments in time.

In 2002 when Alex was born, my sister-in-law introduced me to the art of doing a scrapbook. My habit was created while doing the scrapbook of the first year of his life. It took two years, but now those memories are secure because not only do I have pictures but there are also written notations to accompany each photo.

While doing a scrapbook takes much more time than just slapping the pictures into an album, it is also more satisfying. For one thing, a scrapbook can hold more than just words and pictures. Little trinkets can be included to help remember those special times.

Now my love of something artistic has carried over to my love of Disney. Trust me, I am not a very artistic person at all yet the scrapbooks always look beautiful. No longer do those pictures sit on after the other in a boring album. Since 2004 I have been putting the Disney pictures in scrapbooks.

I have found myself much pickier about the pictures in the scrapbook. These memories may be all that is left one day so each picture chosen is a special Disney moment.

My husband doesn't like the scrapbooks nearly as much as I enjoy doing them, and the end result. At Disneyland this year he was with me when I bought my scrapbook supplies. I only use Disney products in my Disney scrapbooks. For the first time he realized how expensive this hobby can be. I am lucky thought because while he would not want me to scrapbook all of our pictures he does let me do the ones from our Disney vacations. And I also have the one from Alex's first year.

Now you know about me and my artistic moment. I thought it would be fun if you let me know which you prefer. Don't be shy, either reply here in comment form, or join our forums and participate in the poll. Scrapbook or Photo Album Poll
