Amtrack To Disneyland

If you don't enjoy flying and don't want to drive to the Disneyland Resort in California don't worry because there is another way to get to your ultimate destination. Amtrak has been hauling passengers all over the country for years; and has two destinations near Disneyland for your convenience.

First there is the Anaheim station at 2150 E. Katella. This Amtrack station is located on the north side of the Edison Field (where the Anaheim Angels play) parking lot. During the spring and summer months it can be very tricky getting transportation between the Amtrak station and the Disneyland Resort Hotels. The public bus stop is located on the other side of the Edison Field parking lot which in itself is a very long walk; and again, if there is a game in the stadium it will greatly affect the traffic.

If you do decide to take Amtrak into the Anaheim station you can use the Anaheim Resort Transit bus (ART) for $3.00 per person and it will deliver you to various hotels near Disneyland. You can check their website for the actual routes that may reach your specific hotel. That website is www.rideart.org.

To minimize difficulty when taking Amtrak you might want to consider taking the train to the Fullerton station at 120 Santa Fe Avenue in Fullerton. This station is about three miles north of the Disneyland Resort. If you use this train station you have the option to use a taxi for approximately $10.00 plus a tip. You could also use the Orange County Transportation Authority bus (OCTA) which will go up and down Harbor Boulevard. This bus runs approximately every 15 minutes.

The fare for the OCTA bus is $1.25 per person for people aged 7 and older. Children aged 6 and younger are free with a paying adult. Three free children are also allowed per adult if you have multiples or several children under age 6. For those aged 65 and over the OCTA price is just 50 cents. To get this rate you must show proof of age. There is also a 50 cent rate for those with disabilities. Identification required for the disability discount can be a Medicare card, Braille Institute Identification Card, Service Connected Veteran Identification card, a person with disabilities card from another transit agency or a Department of Motor Vehicles Disabled Person Placard Identification.

If you use the OCTA bus you will want to get on the Route 43 bus for Harbor hotels. For more information on OCTA routes, their website is: www.octa.net.
