Day 5

Wednesday May 23rd

Today was a special day, because Aunti Jeni took the day off work to come with us to DL.  She arrived at our hotel at around 9AM and we were at the park by 9:30.  Right as we walked it we spotted Mickey Mouse.  We couldn’t pass up seeing Mickey Mouse because he is Payton’s favorite.  Payton is a huge fan of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  After we got pictures and autographs we headed over to Thunder Mountain Railroad.  Grandma & Grandpa waited off with Payton while the rest of us rode it.  The park didn’t seem very busy because we were also able to ride Pirates of the Caribbean, laceName w:st="on">SplashlaceName> laceType w:st="on">MountainlaceType>, and the Winnie the Pooh all before 11AM. The picture of Charlie coming down laceName w:st="on">SplashlaceName> laceType w:st="on">MountainlaceType> is priceless!  He had the look of terror, but he loved it!

After laceName w:st="on">SplashlaceName> laceType w:st="on">MountainlaceType> Pooh & Tigger were standing in front of Pooh’s corner so we stopped for a quick picture and autograph. It was funny because a couple from China came up to me showing me their camera.  Stupid me figured they wanted me to take a picture of them near laceName w:st="on">SplashlaceName> laceType w:st="on">MountainlaceType>.  Then the wife stood up next to me and Payton for a picture then the husband stood next to us for a picture.  They must have thought Payton was a really cute kid!

Charlie had been dying to ride the tea cups, so it was off to Fantasyland.  On the way to Fantasyland we noticed Indiana Jones didn’t have a wait.  We quickly hopped on it while Chuck’s parents took the kids on the Jungle Cruise again.  I love Indiana Jones; it makes me crack up the whole time.  It’s like driving with my husband!

We finally made it to the tea cups, after the tea cups we got on the laceName w:st="on">StorybooklaceName> laceType w:st="on">LandlaceType> boats.  The whale was all covered up with tarps; you couldn’t even tell what you were being swallowed by.

Finally it was off to our reservations at the Blue Bayou.  I have wanted to eat there as long as I can remember.  It worked out good because Payton fell asleep in the stroller on the way over there, so I was able to enjoy my lunch without fussing and food being thrown all over.  (He tends to think everywhere has dogs to clean up after him)  We all ordered the Monte Cristo.  It was good, but a little to rich for my taste.  The cookie boat was fabulous!  So fabulous I slopped it all over my shirt.  I bought myself a new shirt as soon as we got out of there.

We all voted on going over to California Adventure for a few hours before the Parade of Dreams started over at DL.  My sister-in-law talked me to going on Screaming with her.  Have I mentioned I’m not a huge roller coaster fan?  The ride lived up to its name because I was SCREAMING!  My throat hurt when I got off.  Charlie wanted to go on Soaring one last time, which everybody did but daddy & Payton.

It was about an hour until the Parade of Dreams started so we went over to DL to find a spot for the parade.  We found a good spot on the curb to wait.  Daddy and Grandpa held the spot for us while I did some shopping and Grandma, Charlie, and Aunti Jeni headed over to ride Buzz one more time.  Payton was in love with Dumbo, do any of you know how hard it is to find a Dumbo souvenir??

The parade was great!  It started off with a High School marching band, it brought back memories of when I was in High School and marched through Disneyland!   After the parade we walked back to the hotel and ordered a Pizza for dinner.  The pizza was really good, it was from a local Italian restaurant called Catalina’s.  The whole family went in the hot tub before we hit the sack!

This was the day we purchased most of our souvenirs they included: 2 pirate style Mickey Mouse ears, 2 pirate swords, pirate eye patch, WWII airplane poster, 2 nice button up shirts for my husband, flight suit with helmet (Charlie’s Halloween costume), book about DL, stuffed Dumbo, 2 Mickey Mouse light up things for the kids.

Wendi - having Jeni there for the day must have been a blast for you and the kids!

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse - Alex loves it too.  I am so glad you guys got to see Mickey!

So which is harder to find?  Dumbo souvies, or toddler boy clothing? lol

Was Charlie willing to go on Splash again?

Monstro was covered up during the past few days of our trips.  Kind of funny, because when Alex saw him our first day, he made the comment that Monstro needed to be painted.  I guess Disney listened!  He notices everything. lol

And Wendi - I know you didn't slop that cookie boat on accident.  You did it because you wanted a new shirt, right?

WWII poster - did you get this at Fly 'n Buy?  Across from Soarin?  I have never been in that store - but know from the research I have been doing for the project I am working on that it has some really cool stuff.

Screamin' and Space Mountain - even with the transdermscope, both of these STILL make me sick.  I don't go on them very often!

I am sooo enjoying your report!  Off to read the next day!

Leanne~

Yes we spent ALOT of money at Fly-n-Buy across from Soarin'  My husband is a huge airplane buff.  He teaches Charlie about them and what their names are, etc.  My husband ended up buying 2 of the nice button up shirts one has the Big Bad Wolf, and the other has Grumpy Auto shop type of thing.

He also got the WWII Airplane poster, and got Charlie his Halloween costume.  It's a minature little Air Force flight suit.  It was $50, but I figured with 2 boys maybe we will be able to get 2 uses out of it.  I got the cutest stickers for the back of my cars, it has the mommy, daddy, boys, dogs and cats all in Mickey Mouse ears.  We got a few other things there, but we really liked that shop.

Ohhh, I like the sounds of that sticker!  I will have to stop in there on our next trip!  Thanks for confirming where you made the purchases, it does sound like a wonderful shop!
