| Day 1: Our day started off with me getting everything ready to go while my son was at school. Everything went smoothly, which was great! I had the car all packed up and we took off right after I picked my son up after school. For a Friday, traffic wasn’t too bad and we managed to make it down to the Disneyland Hotel by 6:30PM. We utilized the bell service, which was a special treat. Plus we had too many bags for my son and I to carry without making more than one trip. We stayed in the laceName>DreamslaceName> laceType>TowerlaceType> overlooking the Neverland Pool area. We got dressed in our costumes and headed over to DCA. It was fun walking through DTD dressed in costume because some people kind of looked at us strange. I dressed as a female Jedi and my son dressed as Jenga Fett. We immediately got into the party mood when we entered the park because in the entrance plaza they were playing Halloween music and they had a “party’ spot located in front of the big sun. It was great! We decided to go to Hollywood Pictures Backlot first and we went through a couple of treat lines and then went on the Monster’s Inc Ride. Then we decided to continue walking towards A Bug’s Land. My sister and her friend called us so we waited for them. I sensed a disturbance in the force. Suddenly, I saw Darth Da’hanius coming towards me so I drew my purple light saber and prepared for battle. The female counterpart of Darth Maul, Darth Da’hanius has blue skin and straight black hair. She claimed that she trained Darth Maul and seemed quite disgusted that he managed to get himself cut in half by a mere Jedi. Apparently Darth Da’hanius was misguided onto this planet by an acquaintance she had recently met named the Traveler. We had so much fun! My sister and her friend remained in character the entire night and it was quite entertaining. They shamelessly approached other guests and struck up some pretty interesting conversations. My sister’s friend has performed street theater for several years and is quite talented. Her character was a portrayal of the Traveler from Dr. Who. My sister created her own character based on Darth Maul. Anyway, we rode a few rides in A Bug’s Land and found a few more treat stations. One thing that I liked about the treat stations is that they were passing out healthy alternatives as well as candy. I got some carrots, apple wedges, raisins, and organic fruit roll-up type things. We then headed to Hollywood Pictures Backlot again so that my sister and her friend could ride the laceType>TowerlaceType> of laceName>TerrorlaceName>. We stopped by the Animation building where we found a trick-or-treat trail. There were a couple more treat stations and we played in the Sorcerer's Workshop. We then headed over to Soarin’. We found enough lighting inside the building to take some pictures of ourselves in our costumes. By then, it was almost midnight and we hadn’t even explored half of the park! We spent some time talking with other park guests and oohing and ahhing over other people’s costumes. But we had a great time and my son and I were very tired by the time we got back to our room. We bid my sister and her friend a fond farewell and they headed back to San Diego. To be continued.... Part 2 of the trip report: http://www.disneymouselinks.com/Forums/Topic76300-4-1.aspx Lisa
