We went to see Wall*E on Saturday.  It opened on Friday and this is the first movie we have gone to on opening weekend, but after the previous two weeks, we needed something fun.

The big surprise was that when I bought the tickets they gave me a child watch and trading cards for the next big Disney movie.  It was funny, because I expected to then see a preview of that movie and there was none.  Those watches were only given out on opening weekend while supplies last.

We have a small local theater, and it was packed!

Since this is a Pixar movie, there was a short done before the movie.  As usual, it was fun, but frankly I can't remember it at all. lol

Wall*E is a robot in charge of cleaning up the Earth which is no longer inhabitable.  His best 'friend' is a bug that looks like a cockroach.  There are some hiliarious scenes with those two characters.  There is no speaking at all in the first part of the movie (almost the whole first half) and some of the sight gags were too old for Alex (age 5), but hilarious to older kids and adults.  For example, in one scene Wall*E finds a bra - you even see this in the commercials.  That brought a ton of laughter to the theater.

One day another robot is dropped off and Wall*E meets Eve.  She is there to look for living things.  The early stages for this pair are quite rocky, but they grow very close and have a very special relationship.  One day, Wall*E presents Eve with a plant.  That changes everything and leads to part two of the movie.  Here you will see people, they talk, they don't walk, and I will not say anything more because to do so would be to spoil the movie.

I will say that I absolutely loved this movie, and wanted to immediately go get an Eve toy - for myself!  Alex really wants a Wall*E toy, but we can't justify a trip to Toy's R Us, so he is going to have to wait!  (Frankly I am amazed that Target and Walmart don't see any).

I recommend this movie for all ages.  Even with some jokes going over Alex's head, he NEVER got bored.  This was a very fun movie.

thanks for the review, Leanne. I can't wait to take Gabrielle to see it. Problem is finding time, we are so busy right now and go on vacation in 9 days so maybe we can squeeze it in whil we are gone.

Really no talking in the first half? Wow

Was the watch a Wall*E watch? How neat although since we are a small town I am sure it didn't include our theatre probably just big cities.

Thanks for the great review. I had read that there's minimal conversation, so I was unsure if Linnea would stay focused. I think we will try to see it this weekend.

I found a link for a free movie ticket. Depending on your state/zipcode you'll either get a free movie ticket or a coupon for Entemann's. You do need to plug in your email and mailing address so you might want to use an inactive email (I have a junk email for stuff like this). I did score a movie ticket and it sounds like most folks do. This is a promotion from Entemann's Bakery. These tickets are good until early October.

Good Luck!

We saw Wall*E yesterday and loved it. I have to say, that even with the good reviews, I wasn't expecting to like it all that much. I don't know why,....maybe the Earth in ruins theme and mankind being reduced to not much more then button pushing video addicts sounded a bit depressing. Having said that, we loved the movie. Linnea (5.5) was sucked in the entire time which surprised me, even given the minimal dialog. I fell in love with the robots, and there was definitely hope for the humans. It was a very good story with lots of messages.

I am debating on seeing this again at the movies (something I rarely do), but I definitely know I'll be buying the DVD.

We watched it on the 4th here on base. The kids loved it. We loved it. It was such a sweet film. We saw a preview for the Chihuahua movie the other day. Both kids can't wait to see it.

Okay, well we went this weekend to go see the movie and we got watches for the kids I was excited they still had them.  Well Trey (7.5) really liked the movie but Kyan (4.5) was getting antsy the last quarter of the movie. When it was finally over and I told her it was over she hopped off my lap and said "Good! Finally we can leave".  So the movie didn't thrill her.

I thought it was okay but I probably won't be going to see it too soon again, however Trey is demanding we buy it ASAP

I am also considering going to see it again.  Totally loved the movie here!

Yes, it was surprising to see all the kids like it even though there was not much talking.
