| Day 1: We left Calgary around 1:00 pm. Touched down in Seattle and were set to takeoff around 45 minutes later. Something happened with the automatic fueling system so the plane had to be fueled by hand and they over filled it, and it spilled all over the tarmack! So we had to sit and wait while the fire truck came and they cleaned everything up, was supposed to be a 15 minute delay.. ended up being about an hour. We arrived in LAX about 1 1/2 later then we were scheduled to. Oh well, I guess we missed the rush hour traffic. We took the Super Shuttle (the DL express) and ended up having 2 residential drop offs! So it took about 90 minutes or so to get to the hotel! Anyways we arrived around 9 or so at night 10 our time... the kids were bagged and so were we! We were glad to see our hotel room and munched on some cookies and milk, made a plan to get up for EE the next morning and then said goodnight... we could hear the fireworks and the music, but of course didn't see anything from our hotel room. The DL hotel looked really nice all lit up though. We also got our balloons and packages with black and white autographed photos when we checked in. The fridge was waiting for us at the room and it was handy to store extra milk for the morning! We set a mickey wake up call for 6 am and went to bed!
Day 2:
We got up early, had breakfast in the room ( we brought those little boxes of cereal and juice with us). We decided we did not have to rush since they had changed the EE that week from Thursday to Wednesday (due to grad night I have heard), so we decided to do that on Wednesday rather then Tuesday morning. We leisurely got organized and walked over to the gates and got in the line... then realized we forgot the autograph stuff, so Jim ran back to the room and got back just before they opened the gates.
We hopped onto the DL railroad and took it around to Fantasyland. The first ride we took was "It's a Small world" it was fun and I was amazed to see how it had not changed much from what I had remembered. The kids both loved it! Phillip initially was not sure, but then got right into it and all week he sang "After small world after all". Then we went onto Dumbo, The Mad Tea Party, Alice and Wonderland (Sarah did not enjoy this one at all), King Arthur's Carrousel, and Casey Jr's train and then decided to head to Toontown. We first encountered Goofy and went for a photo and autograph with him. Phillip was fine until Goofy did a "pop" kiss sound and when he moved a bit Phil got scared. We then went to see Minnie at her house, autographs and photos and then wandered through her house. We walked through Mickey's house, but when we got to the back there was such a line we decided that we would just visit with him at Ariel's Grotto for lunch.
We took the railroad around the rest of the way back to the entrance and went back to the hotel for a few minutes before lunch. We headed into DCA via the Grand's entrance.. nice set up! and wandered over to Ariel's Grotto for our lunch reservations. That was fun and the kids loved all the dancing. He still was very nervous of Goofy and didn't want anything to do with him. Pluto was also a bit scary for him, although Minnie, Donald and Mickey seemed ok - maybe it was a big nose thing? Sarah mentioned to the waitress it was Phillip's birthday tomorrow and they brought him some ice cream and a candle and everyone sang for him. Then we headed back to the hotel for sleeps for Phillip and everyone else other then Sarah and I for a while. We went back to DCA for the block party. We found a good spot in the green zone not to far from Bug's Land and mom, dad and Phillip held the spot while Sarah, Jim and I went to check out Bug's Land. We rode on Heimlich's chew chew train...we liked it but could not get over how short the ride was ( it must be under a minute). Sarah and Jim went on the bumper cars and then we headed back over to the parade spot.
We loved the Block Party Bash! The kids were so excited and loved getting up and dancing on the side.. Sarah was pulled into the dance section by Princess Atta and thought she had died and gone to heaven! What a wonderful show... those guys must be right exhausted at the end of it. We really like the Pixar movies so this was super for us. Once the parade was done we wandered around a bit, went into the Animation Studio and then went to see the Muppet 3D show. Sarah freaked a bit during this. She didn't like all the crashing, etc. Was worried about the walls at the end and was shaking pretty badly so we didn't bother with any of the other 3D shows after that. We also decided anything close to scary wasn't worth trying with her.
We walked around trying to decide what to have for dinner and decided to just head up to the room and order room service. The food was pretty good and it was most likely a good decision to get the kids into an area where there wasn't so much going on.
That night my parents said they would watch the kids if Jim and I wanted to go back over to DL. We took them up on it and went. It is so pretty at night. We took some shots of the castle, avoided the crowd waiting for the fireworks and headed straight over to Star Tours. After that we decided we would check out the Snow White ride in Fantasyland to see if it was something Sarah would be ok with, we decided not . We rode on Pirates without any line and enjoyed that. We also really enjoyed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - what fun this was in the dark! Then we did a bit of shopping ( since Phillip's birthday was the next day and we hadn't really gotten him anything). We finally decided on a remote controlled train with Mickey, Donald and Goofy at the World of Disney. The girl there was so helpful to find us batteries for it and threw them in for free! (Funny thing is we didn't end up giving it to him until we got home). After that (about midnight) we decided we better turn in for the night since we were going to do EE the next morning and we had birthday buckets scheduled to arrive about 6:15 am.For the rest of this trip report, click this link: http://www.disneymouselinks.com/Forums/Topic2249-4-1.aspx |

| Great report Carole. Wish I would have done the birthday bucket in the room. Oh well. lol Like you, I loved Block Party Bash. My review is now up: http://www.disneymouselinks.com/Disneyland-Block-Party-Bash.asp you will see how much I loved it. In fact, the only thing bad I have to say is they don't do it often enough! This parade would go over well if they did it 2 times a day. I didn't have such nice things to say about the early entry into Toontown, which is also up now http://www.disneymouselinks.com/ToonTown-Morning-Madness.asp I love reading about the things you did, as it was so similar to us. Did Sarah actually scream/cry on the Dark Fantasyland Rides? Alex is pretty much noncommital about them. Leanne
