sorry it took my a while to post this

Disneyland Trip report #1 April 18th 2006

We got up at 4 am and left the house at 4:30. My dad took us all. My aunt, uncle, and two cousins, Emil and Eddy went. We got to the airport at about 5:15 am. We gave in our entire luggage, said goodbye to my dad and we left. We were on the plane by 6:30 and we landed at LAX at 8:30 am. To be honest, I was expecting a bigger and newer airport; I was kind of disappointed when I saw the one at LosAngeles, comparing it to the Vancouver international airport, it really old. We called the shuttle bus from a pay phone near by, and it came in a few minutes. We were the only ones there so it took us straight to our hotel, Holiday inn at Buena Park. We left our things in our room. Emil, Eddy and I were really excited and we wanted to go to Disneyland right away, but the next shuttle bus left in about an hour. When the bus finally came, we got to the magical place in about 10 minutes. The minute we walked into Disneyland, we could see a big 50 sign, with a Mickey Mouse figure standing beside it. We walked around Disneyland for a few minutes and ended up right by the Autopia ride. We got in line and were on the ride in a few minutes. Everyone went by themselves, except for Eddy, he was 7 years old, and it was his first ride at Disneyland so he was a bit apprehensive. We all enjoyed the ride very much, and and kept walking, when Eddy spotted Buzz Lightyear. We stood in line after purchasing a 50th anniversary autograph book, and golden Mickey ears. After we got our pictures with Buzz, Emil and I were excited aboutlaceName w:st="on">  space mountainlaceName>. We were about to get the fastpasses for it, but the return time was for 11:30 p.m. and it was only about 4:00 pm. We decided to go into the stand-by line and waited for about an hour and a half. My aunt was skeptical about getting on, but we finally convinced her. She was scared, claustrophobic, and nauseas when we got off., but the rest of us enjoyed it very much and we purchased two pictures that turned out great. We went over to Buzz light year Astro blasters and we got a fast pass for the three of us and my uncle. We stopped for a Mickey Mouse shaped pretzel and then continued on to the tea cups. Eddy, Emil and I went on, we spun it around so fast that I felt sick. Our next ride was “It’s a small world”. My aunt absolutely loved it because it was very slow; I found it kind of boring because it was very long. It was our time slot for BLAB. We walked over, and we got on in a few minutes. Eddy really enjoyed this ride. Our last day at Disneyland was almost over. We went to the Breau Bakery at Downtown Disney. We got hot dogs, chicken strips and fruit. While we were eating, the Fantasmic fireworks started. I ran outside and I got good pictures. We were all very tired as we made our way to the exit. We still couldn’t believe that we were at Disneyland. It was a spectacular day! Our shuttle bus came, and we were off to our hotel. Tomorrow we would go to Universal Studios and we were very excited!

An hour and a half wait, yikes.  We were so lucky when we went we nearly walked onto this ride one afternoon.  I guess you make the decision of less crowds but less shows and fireworks etc on or more crowds but longer lines and more shows etc.  Glad you had a good time though.

The second day we went to Universal Studios, I dont know if I should post it, but Im trying to find the 3rd day. I saved it on my computer and I cant seem to find, maybe ill just write another one.

The hotel was awesome, Holiday Inn at Buena Park. It was about 10 minutes from DL with a shuttle bus every 2 hours or so. The staff are very helpful and cooperative. The hotel also has an outdoor pool, it was very nice. I'll try to post a pic of the pool because I dont have any pics of the hotel, now I regret not taking any. The five of us stayed in a room with 2 queen sized beds. Eddy, my aunt and I slept in one, and my uncle and emil in the other. It was okay, but for our disneyworld trip we are looking to get either more beds or bigger beds. I would recommend this hotel, it wasent expensive and it was very convenient. I think our room was about $80 a night. It also had a restaurant and bar which we didnt visit and a computer with internet in the lobby as well as a gift shop. Denny's was right accross the street as well as Wendy's I believe. Also Target was down the street. Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament was about a 10 mintes walk and we also enjoyed it very much.

I'll try to get day 3 up as soon as I can, should I post our universal studios day?

Sure Sara, we'd love to hear about your trip to Universal!  I haven't been there in years!

Bryan and I used to wait in those long lines before we had Morgan, now we just skip it all, there's no way to contain a toddler with that long of a wait!

We stayed at a hotel close to yours about 4 years ago during a trip to Knott's.  It was actually a huge suite but an older hotel.  The prices are awesome down there and they are worth the consideration if you're on a tight budget.

Yes Sara - do post your Universal Day, but in the topic, please say it is Universal Studios so people know.

Thanks for asking!
