It sounds like you had a quick trip.  Where abouts do you live?  I'm planning on driving down to DL next month and I'm just wondering how driving from the Sacramento area with a 4 year old and 17 month old is going to be.

I live out by Palm Springs. It takes me about 2 and 1/2 hours to get to Anaheim, depending on traffic. My hubby made amazing time on the way home Sunday and got us home in about 2 hours. My son is 7 and we just pack a lot of stuff for him to do. He's been going on road trips at least once a month his whole life and he enjoys it.

It does take longer travelling with a baby because you have to stop and feed them. I recommend planning a route that takes you past plenty of safe stops for potty breaks and what not. Pack snacks and drinks as well. Mostly I think it's keeping the kids entertained. We play car games and my son has a portable DVD player and Nintendo, although he seems to enjoy looking out the window or talking to us or listening to music more than using the DVD player and Nintendo. When he was younger, he would sleep most of the trip or we would listen to his CDs and sing.

I hope this helps! Have a great trip!

I got a laugh because of the retreat. We live on base so everyday at 4:30 the National Anthem is palyed. Thus my kids are used to it. So when we were at Disneyland, they just thought it was normal. They think all places play the National Anthem.

It sounds like both parks were crazy busy...

Glad you have fun. Happy birthday to your hubby!

Hi Cat!

Thanks for your response. Yah we don't live on base and I have a tendency to forget about the flag raising and lowering and taps and all of that. We are rarely on base when they do that stuff, so it always kind of catches me off guard when I am on base during those times.  LOL

Yah I felt bad for the people who planned a huge trip; once in a lifetime kind of thing. I get why they closed DL park at 4:00PM because I'm sure they got paid A LOT of money. But I thought it was rude to those who had bought tickets just for that day.

Thanks for the kind words about my foot, it was quite sore and I spent the next couple of days limping but wasn't going to let it stop me having fun.  Actually the nail is still abit black 3 months later.  It was a rather uncomfortable trip as I was also covered in a really stingy rash, so stingy I made Doug sleep in the other bed.  I think it might be the water in America ????? as I got a mild one when we stayed over night in LA on the way to NZ.  Weird cause hardly ever had sickness type problems and then for my 3 days in Disneyland I did.  Typical eh.
