I hope it is ok that I am putting my whole report in one post

Saturday, April 28th – Travel Day

Our flight left around 1:15pm and arrived just before 4pm at the laceName w:st="on">JohnlaceName> laceName w:st="on">WaynelaceName> laceName w:st="on">AirportlaceName> – great airport by the way!  Very clean and easy to get around.  We were not at all happy about the Disney Express but I am putting that in a separate report so not to spoil our good time J  We stayed at the Residence Inn Resort Area (Garden Grove) in one of their kids suites (2 bedrooms, 2 bath, kitchen, dining table, living room) and they were very friendly, very helpful and made our stay enjoyable.  It is located within walking distance to Target so we went there for things we weren’t aloud to carry on to the plane then to dinner and back to the hotel to sleep.

Sunday, April 29, 2007 - First Day at Disneyland!

We got up bright and early and managed to get ourselves to the park right before opening.  It was so much fun listening to the crowd countdown to opening.  Watching my sons face as we walked down main street was great.  Our first stop after oohing and awing at the castle was Tomorrowland.  AstroBlasters was closed “indefinitely” for repairs so we kept moving.  My husband wanted to go on SpaceMountain and our son insisted on going to.  He did great on the ride.  He said it was fun but a little scary.  After that we went to Small World (loved it!) and some others in Fantasyland including Autopia.  He spotted the Matterhorn and I told him it was a scary ride but he absolutely insisted he wanted to go on it.  I prepared him best I could telling him there would be monsters jumping out (still wanted to go) but it was just pretend.  He covered his eyes for most of the ride and afterwards he decided that had definitely been too scary.  He really liked the mountain and loves roller coasters so he was disappointed it had been scary.  He kept asking me why they would make a scary ride.  AstroBlasters opened up so we went on that.  He was a little scared at first (because of the matterhorn) but warmed up to it quickly.  I was so impressed with the holding area here.  The life size Buzz is outstanding!  Love how they animated his face with a projection.  Afterwards we went back to the hotel and we all took naps.  We woke up a little after 5pm and headed over to CA Adventure around 5:30.  We spent our time in laceName w:st="on">BugslaceName> laceType w:st="on">LandlaceType> for most of the evening, then went on the Sun Wheel, got off right in time to walk over to the Electric Light Parade just before it started.  Charlie’s face lit up and he waved the WHOLE time the parade went by.  At the end he seemed a little upset and I asked him what was wrong he said “not all of them waved at ME!”  We then went over to Disneyland again to catch the Fireworks.  It was a little iffy if they would happen due to wind but when we were inside shopping we heard them start so we ran out into Main Street.  Charlie got a little scared because they do the haunted mansion bit and there is fire and smoke.  We reassured him that it was all pretend and just for fun.  He asked “the whole world isn’t going to be on fire?”  Oh where children’s minds go!  We reassured him again that they were careful and nothing would catch on fire but he remained skeptical.  We enjoyed it though!

Monday, April 30th – our day of rest!

We had a nice easy morning, ate breakfast went to Target and played in the pool.  After naptime we headed to Downtown Disney to walk around, look at shops and have dinner.  We ate at the House of Blues.  It was good and because of the time of year we didn’t need reservations for any restaurant we went to.   This time of year the park closes at 8pm M-Th and we were a little surprised at the 7:50pm rush of people out of the park that flooded into the stores. Can’t imagine what it would be like during peak season!

Tuesday, May 1st – Early Entry Day!

Yes, I believe early entry day is my fav.  It was much easier to get a lay of the land and figure out where we wanted to go.  We looped through AstroBlasters a few times and did most of Fantasyland (again!).  We finally wondered over to the New Orleans area and decided to go on to Pirates and we were SO glad that we did!  We thought Charlie would be scared since he was scared of everything else but even he enjoyed it.  We only had him cover his eyes when Davey Jones appears in the mist and other than that he was fine.  We had lunch at the Blue Bayou (again, no reservations and we were only one table away from the water).  Fabulous food there and worked out perfect with Jude, our 18 mos old, asleep in the stroller. Since it was getting hot that time of day we decided to go on some more indoor rides like Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and other similar rides.  Then we had dinner with Goofy and friends at 5:30.  Because of the time of year we didn’t worry about which table we sat at.  We were by the kitchen – table 16 I think – and we had goofy come by 3 times.  We also saw Alice, Dale, Pluto and I don’t remember who else.  The funny thing was that Charlie was so hungry he hardly spoke to the Characters.  He did get up and dance with them after he ate though J  We took the monorail back into the Disneyland park and when it stopped and we told Charlie we were getting off he said “Can we do this ride again!!??”  Figures out of everything this would end up to be one of his favorite rides   We were able to catch the Parade of Dreams before leaving the park.  It was a good parade, perhaps more for girls with all the princess stuff but still good.  The Electric light parade is a clear winner in the parade category though.

Wednesday, May 2nd – Toontown Morning Madness!

Better than we expected.  We enjoyed the grand entrance of the characters, helped Charlie get into it.  It was so great visiting all the little houses – especially Minnie’s kitchen with the working appliances.  Charlie loved Chip N’ Dale’s Treehouse the most followed by Goofy’s house/garden.  Jude couldn’t get enough of Goofy’s piano and the leak in his garden hose.  The rest of the day was ok but kind of off because the kids got REALLY cranky.  We forgot Jude’s medicine at the hotel so my husband spent from 11:30-1pm shuttling to the hotel and back just for the meds while I went on rides with Charlie.  We stopped for some food at another excellent restaurant in New Orleans then went into some indoor things hoping it would help the kid’s moods.  We went into the main street cinema which was super cute and the kids enjoyed running around, watching cartoons and being in a cool place. We then went to the 50th Anniversary building where they actually sat through the 20 minute movie of the making of Disneyland.  Again, I think they just enjoyed being indoors in a quiet cool place.  We went on a couple more rides and the kids were getting cranky again.  So we finally decided to go back to the hotel at 4:30 where we were all much happier.  Needless to say the kids went to bed early.  We spent the evening packing our stuff up to make it easier for the next morning.

Thursday, May 3rd – Last Day

Since this was our last day and we weren’t doing early entry AND the kids had been so cranky the day before, we decided to sleep in which was a great move. We all got dressed, packed up the toiletries and checked our luggage at the front desk.  We got down to the breakfast room with just 10 minutes to spare before closing (9:30 sharp!) and moseyed to the shuttle to discover it was just about to leave so we didn’t even have to wait.  Our last day was wonderful.  We spent most of it at California Adventure since we hadn’t seen much of it.  We started off with the special AAA priority seating at Turtle Talk with Crush.  It was really neat for the kids to directly interact with Crush.  At first my son could clearly care less as he could hardly remember who crush was but once Crush was having a direct conversation and calling people by their names he was clearly hooked.  Crush only talked to about 5 people and it seemed brief but it was definitely worth it.  We tried to do some “adult” rides but I wasn’t terribly impressed with the River run ride.  After that we did the adventure thing then headed over for Playhouse Disney on Stage.  LOVED that!  It was a huge hit.  We had lunch at the Trattoria then attempted to go on California Screamin’ but it shut down while I was in line (thank god I wasn’t on it!).  I’ll have to post the picture we got of people being ushered off of the peak of the coaster.  We went on the Sun Wheel at my son’s request (clearly not afraid of heights) which was nice – we were able to see the park at night and in the day time on the wheel.  We did make it to the laceType w:st="on">TowerlaceType> of laceName w:st="on">TerrorlaceName> and we both loved that one!  We went on at the end of the day so only got to do one round but would have loved to go on it over and over!  The Pooh ride was Charlie’s favorite so we ended our trip with a Pooh ride, a walk through the pooh shop, got to see the characters and went to grab our Mouse ice creams before leaving the park at 5pm.  We had to put up with shuttling to the hotel, then with the stupid DisneyExpress but once we got to John Wayne (nice airport by the way and a short 20 minute drive to/from Disneyland) it was smooth sailing.

Jennifer - great trip report!

So Charlie loved the Monorail huh? lol  That is cute!

As for the Matterhorn - we made the same mistake with Alex a few years ago.  Because of that mistake, he hates roller coasters!

Thanks so much for sharing all of this with us!

I know I have more comments, but can't think of them right now.

May All Your Days Be Filled With Magic!  And your nights full of Disney Dreams!
