Magical May Trip – Final Thoughts

We had an absolutely wonderful trip this time.  Andy’s back was a concern, and he did fine aside from the day he took the muscle relaxer, Alex’s cold basically disappeared, and the problems with my feet and ankles – I can handle that as long as I am at Disneyland!

A few highlights of the trip:

  1. Seeing Kevin again after all these years, and being able to spend so much time with him.  I was happy to see my very shy son completely accept Kevin, and quickly fall in love with him.  Kevin – our whole family really enjoyed having you with us for this trip!  Thanks for arranging to come while we were there, and thanks for having patience with Alex!  We love you!
  2. Meeting David and his wonderful family was great fun.  The Electric Parade meet was a great success!  It was nice to be able to see them a few other times during our trip as well.
  3. Alex trying new things.  He loved every new ride he did except Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  Mulholland Madness was a huge hit, as was Star Tours.
  4. The incredible Honeymoon Turndown on our first night.  Not what I expected at all!  I did keep the rose and some rose petals for my scrap book.
  5. The surprise delivered to our room on the last night.  Chocolate covered strawberries from Karen at Vacation Planning.
  6. Winning the lanyard on our last day – such a happy moment!
  7. Riding Mulholland Madness with Alex – hearing him laugh and say he has a very bad feeling about this.  It was adorable.  And I did finally get a picture on our last day!
  8. Having Alex point out things to Kevin – the only other person I know that knows as much as I do about Disney.  It was precious, and Kevin was very gracious when talking to Alex.
  9. The Flag Retreat as we left Disneyland.  I couldn’t have planned that better if I had tried!  I am not kidding, it was an incredible way to end the trip.
  10.  Getting the 1st visit button from the cast member who upgraded us to AP’s.
  11.  Seeing my friend Suzette at the Walt Disney Travel Company after missing her in December – but she did see us, and wondered why we didn’t come back!
  12. We had been worried about fastpasses since we no longer had the unlimited fastpass.  It was not a problem at all.  We followed the strategy I have on our site, and it worked out perfectly.  We came home with a ton of unused fastpasses too.
  13. Watching Alex fall in love with Rex, R2D2 and C3PO from Star Tours.
  14. Spending quality time with the two loves of my life, and one of my very best friends!
  15.  Getting Annual Passes!
  16.  Finally seeing Donald on Mainstreet (3 times even).

I know there are more highlights, and one was at the edge of my brain and I lost it.  I am sure it will come back to me, and I will add it here.

Low Lights:

None.  This was a totally fantastic trip from start to end!

oh!  i forgot to ask!  i know one of your trips you used the disney visa card to get a special character greeting at california adventure - did you do that this time too?  is it worth spending the time to do it or is it just better to find the characters around the park?

Daisy - we didn't do the Disney Visa thing this time because Alex really wasn't into the characters.  You can do it between 10 and 11 each morning at California Adventure in Ariel's Grotto.  Just show your visa, and they send you downstairs for the meet and greet.  Then you get one free picture as well!

I enjoyed reading your trip reports, and your son is too adorable! It sounds like you all had a wonderful time, and a lot of good things came your way. I hope I will experience some of that Disney magic when I go there in a couple weeks!

Oh you will definitely find the magic conezone!  No way to escape it really!  Just go in with a smile on your face and when you walk onto Main Street the magic will hit you in waves as you leave reality behind and enter a world of Disney fantasy!

And I forgot to add something to my list, so here it is:

Finally making it to Level 5 on Buzz, with Kevins help showing me where all the triangles were located!  That was the first time I have ever done that well!

Great trip report Leanne! It sounds like you had a blast. (I am sorry about the foot problems you have when you go-that's a

bummer) Alex is so cute and loves something new with every trip you take! It's fun to read about his preferences and how

they change each time! I can't wait to get my girls back there and see Makenna's reactions now that she is talking so much

and discovering new things all the time.

Oh, I had one question--did you say Big Thunder Mountain has a fastpass now? I didn't see one when we were there.
