| | This was going to primarily be a DCA day, but we wanted to use the passes Leanne sent me for early entry to Toontown. We hit up Chip and Dale's treehouse, toured Donald's Boat, watched a bit of the opening of Toontown (but didn't have good seats, so didn't stay for it all). While that was going on, Roger Rabbit was dead, so we rode it again. It was time for DCA to open, so we headed over there, stopping off at Small World for another ride on it on our way out. First thing I did when getting into the park was head over to get FP for Soaring. Once that was done, we checked out A Bug's Land. Hit up all the rides there. The kids said they were okay. To me, after all the other rides we went on, it was pretty boring. It's really geared towards people younger than mine are (4 and 6). Before we left, we watched the 3D movie It's Tough To Be a Bug. As with Honey I Shrunk the Audience, the 3D effects are really well done. I won't give it all away, but the last part really "felt" weird. We then did Monster's Inc (probably the best "dark ride" in either park) and Muppet's 3D...only a 5 min wait. I liked Muppets a lot. The theater looks just like I thought it would from watching the shows growing up. My son changed his mind and wanted to try Tower of Terror again, so we did. He came out of it saying never again. My wife and daughter did Monster's Inc a couple more times while waiting for us. We just missed getting preferred seating for Aladdin, so decided to try later. We did check out the Animation area. Crush was amazing. I wish we had seen it a few more times. Since it's audience driven, I'm sure every show would be different. We then hit up Soaring and enjoyed it for our second time. LOVE THE FP SYSTEM. Was time for Aladdin again, this time we showed up 30 min prior....to be told we just missed out on the preferred seating again, sigh. So we went about and sat in the cheap seats. They were fine. The show was great and it was a nice 45 min break in the day. Because of this and the park closing at 6pm, we decided to just stay the entire day there and forego the pool. After leaving Aladdin, we hit up Paradise Pier for another ride on Mulholland Madness. I know Leanne's son did it 17 times in a row I think? The difference in a week sure changed the lines. We had to wait 20 min to get on. Not major, but a big difference from being able to ride back to back that many times in a row. After MM, it was time to try the Sun Wheel. Haven't been on a ferris wheel in years. Remembered why. They are pretty tame. A nice view of the parks and we could see our hotel, which was just across the street. Took a while to load and then once it was, we went around once and offloaded. Not really worth the wait imo. It was getting close to close, so we started to walk out. Grizzly was dead, so my son and I rode it back to back, while my wife and daughter went into the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. We probably should have hit that up much earlier, as my son totally missed out on it and it looked pretty cool. It was time for the park to close and while DL was going to be open for two more hours, we were tired, so headed back to the hotel. | | Wow - 20 minute lines on MM? Shocking! Especially for a Wednesday. Wonder why everyone was there! I think our longest wait in the 17 in a row was 6 minutes. Not bad at all! Monster's Inc - I have to agree - the best dark ride in both parks. Or at least a tie with Peter Pan! It's Tough to be a Bug - it 'felt' weird to you? I don't do it because it 'hurt' weird to me! Back problems and all. Sounds like a wonderful day at California Adventure - and yes, your son would have LOVED Redwood Creek! Leanne

| For It's Tough to Be a Bug, the "felt weird" part was SPOILER: the effect of the bugs leaving the theater under your seat

| Yeah, I know - that's why I didn't go into more details! I think when I initially did it though, I might have mentioned it in more detail. I hate that part of the show! Leanne

| | LOL! I've really enjoyed your trip report, but now I have some questions. What is Monster's Inc. like? They don't have that one in WDW. Also, how do the younger ones do on Tough to be a Bug? I haven't taken Linnea (4) on this one yet, because during our pre-kid days I saw parents exiting with screaming kids. Some of them were toddlers/preschoolers but I also saw a 12 year old sobbing as we left the show. I just assumed it might be too intense for the younger kids.

| | Monsters, Inc is a great attraction Elaine. Very much like the movie (the storyline of the ride). You ride through in a car with a tv in it. When suddenly, a newsbreak comes, telling of a kid in Monstropolis. You enter through doors and see Mike and Sully trying to protect Boo, Randall in a few scenes, other scenes from the movie. The best part of this attraction though is the Door room. Disney did an incredible job with that! Not scary at all, just a fun dark ride. And if you are lucky, as you exit, Roz will talk to you! I will let Rob tell you about It's Tough To Be a Bug since I have not gone on it for years, and never with Alex. Leanne

| | What Leanne said about Monster's Inc I can echo. It's Tough to Be a Bug is a little intense, but if your kids watch the movie, they should be okay with the 3D version here. They may get a little freaked out, but so do adults. That's the point in watching the 3D movies. To see stuff coming at your head.
