Not a lot to say about this day. We got up, had breakfast, went to the airport and flew home. Surprisingly, my daughter didn't sleep at all. Other than our feet, everyone felt pretty good. This was an amazing trip. Everyone had so much fun. It almost brings a tear to my eye when I think about some moments there. (when my daughter met her favorite princess, etc).

The kids loved getting autographs. We ended up with

  • Minnie Mouse
  • Goofy
  • Ariel
  • Snow White
  • Aurora
  • Cinderella
  • Belle
  • Mickey Mouse
  • Buzz Lightyear
  • Pluto
  • Alice in Wonderland and the Queen of Hearts, who kept knocking my sons cap off. I have it on video, totally funny
  • Cruella De Ville
  • Atta (my son didn't want hers)
  • Maximillian
  • Chip and Dale
  • Donald Duck (YA!!!)
  • Mary Poppins and Bert

If you bring young kids, or are a young kid at heart, you really should pick up some autograph books.

We ended up taking about 230 pictures (mostly my wife) and I took about 5 hours of video, lol. Not all great, but they will bring back memories for years.

Overall, I was impressed with DL. It is so clean (as is DCA). The rides are great and I can't say enough about the Parades and Character meetings. DCA is only so-so in my books. They do have some wicked rides like Tower of Terror, Grizzly and Soaring, but the rest of the rides just seem to be lacking something. Maybe it's the Disney Theme, or lack thereof. I know it's not supposed to be Disneyland, but I just wish it had some more memorable rides. That said, the shows were very well done, especially Aladdin.

I'm not in negotiations with my wife for our next trip. I wanted to return in three years, she said five, so I think we may compromise and do four. I have my fingers crossed.

A big thank you to this board for all the tips, ideas and in Leanne's case tickets. I really appreciate all of the help. It made the trip go that much smoother.

Rob - you guys ended up with Autographs we still need!  Great job!

I am so happy you found us here, and that we were able to help you out.  You know Rob - I totally love having you on these boards, enjoy talking to you, and hope you will stay even though it may be a few years before you go again.  You now have a ton of knowledge about travelling with youngsters, and can use that to help others.  You already know how fun it is here!

Having a great trip and having it run smoothly is my goal for every single one of our members.  That is what I love doing.  Helping others plan the magic!  It is very rewarding to hear that I have helped to make a trip go more smoothly!

You guys did have a great trip.  Your children sound wonderful!

So your wife wants 5, you want 3 - heck, I would compromise too.  2 years!

Hehe, thanks Leanne, I'll have to get you to talk to my wife.

I actually missed two autographs. Mr and Mrs Incredible. Also Sully from Monsters Inc, but he can't sign autographs.

I'll stick around forever now. Great sites like this need input from everyone.

You are awesome Rob - and yes, get your wife on here!  You know, if she had a place like this, talking her into going in 2 years just might happen!  She would enjoy talking to us, and finding out that you are not strange!  There are others just like you, and worse (me)!

I am so glad to hear you are staying.  We have been lucky to have members stay and still contribute after the trip is over, and I think that says a lot about the type of community we have here!  I really do enjoy all of our members.  Each person has something different to provide, and everyone I talk to is wonderful!  I could not have done better if I would have hand-selected our members!

One thing I forgot to mention and I don't know why.

My wife made each of my kids fanny packs, although slightly larger than ones you would normally see on a kid. We went shopping at the local grocery store (Food 4 Less) and bought a bunch of nutritious snacks like granola bars, some candy like Skittles and some cereal like Fruit Loops. My kids then had a couple of baggies that they could fill each day (or twice a day when we came back for lunch) with whatever goodies they wanted. They could then snack on stuff whenever they felt like it.

I got the idea from many places and let me tell you....IT WORKS. The kids were much happier waiting in lines. Mom and Dad didn't monitior what they ate, as it was holidays. The kids actually picked mostly health snacks anyway. By the end of the week, Lainey had polished off the entire box of Fruit Loops just munching away in the lines.

They also had small water bottles, so they could keep from getting dehydrated.

Our room has a fridge, so we also bought some bread, ham, cheese and "borrowed" some condiments like mustard, mayo from Disney and made some nice sandwiches for lunch in our hotel room. Saved quite a bit of money doing that.

No kidding - that saves a ton of money!

Like you, while at Disneyland I don't worry about what Alex eats - as long as he actually eats something!  It is vacation, so whatever he wants he can have pretty much.

That's wonderful that your wife was able to make the fanny packs!

Sounds like such a great trip.  I don't see how you could possible even wait 2 years.  Me and the kids make DH go back every year.

I loved your trip report, and the fanny pack idea is great. We may do that next time too!

Great report Rob, really enjoyed reading it.  I am one of those ones that has stayed around even though are next trip won't be for a long time but when we do finally get there again I will have so many pointers it will be a fab holiday.  Although I don't know how you all do it with the crowds, I have mentioned this before but we went mid Jan and the longest wait we had was about 8 mins for jungle cruise.  I couldn't imagine waiting any longer, especially with a baby.  In fact they didn't even had most of the fastpasses running.  When we did Indiana Jones they sent everyone down the fast pass lane.  Most of the rides were a walk on for us which was fab and everything seemed to be running except Haunted Mansion which was a bit of a shame and Dumbo - which wasn't really missed by us adults and the fireworks but it was on the weekend we just had gone by then as we only had 3 days.  We went very early Oct in 2000 and it was pretty quiet as well.
