I thought it was ok.  But I am not sure I completely understand the premise of the game.  Are they playing for $1,000,000 for the winner, or $1,000,000 to split (in small games, ie. $40,000 last night).  How are they going to crew the ship when they get down to very few memebers (ie. 3 people).  Is the captain always the captain until there is a mutany.  I just thought the whole thing was disjointed, and didn't come across so exciting.  However, there is hope for it.  I do like the fact that the Nigerian Nightmare Christian Okoye is there.  He must still strike some fear in Broncos fans (as well as many linebackers!).

I thought it was okay too.  I will watch it next week and see if I want to keep watching it.

John - I can't believe he was voted off.  It must of been because of the compasses that he had.

JD - what a jerk.

I don't know if the Captain stays, or if there is a new captain every time a different team wins.  I also don't know if the million dollars is split up either.  I think they should have explained things a bit better.

Yes, it was disjointed, and I did expect better things from Burnett.  Maybe it will get better.

Kevin - I was also wondering how they were going to crew the ship when it gets down to a few people, that should be interesting to see.

Yeah, the disappointment was there.  It just didn't come across as good tv.  The maps seemed very easy, and the strange pirate lore story (ie, they buried 14 treasures), blah, blah, blah, just made it difficult, especially if we were hoping to get Survivor aboard a Pirate ship.  JD did become a total jerk whenever he was made captain, and the fact that he got to keep half of the first treasure, when John did all the work, made it even more difficult to vote John off.  They really didn't portray John as someone that 10 people would unanimously vote off, so I was surprised by that outcome too!  Like you Tink I will give it another shot, but probably only one other chance.  I hope Christian Okoye wins, anyone else remember him from the NFL (he played for the Chiefs in the early 90s).

I was equally disappointed in ABC's the Next Best Thing.  The impression show was simply not funny, and really not fair (ie. the people doing Abbot and Costello were doing them for 12 years).  Oh well, maybe for a casual laugh, but I'm not too excited about it..

Ok, I'm the odd man out.  I liked it.  I guess because I watched the preview thing I was up on what was going on...but I agree..they didn't explain it well!  They all split the money (like this weeks $40,000)...so obviously the captain can make the most money....however, to stay captain he must not be too greedy or he'll for sure be overthrown (as they show next week with JD making a deal with the other guy).  It was kind of glossed over that it has to be unanimous...the host told the captain and the two officers that the officers also have to agree with the mutiny..but they didn't tell the rest of the pirates.  It should be pretty "cut throat" what with being able to actually SEE the winnings each week!  I know with Survivor they are always thinking of the pot...but to actually see it must be even more...ah...competitive?!  Anyway!  I liked it!  Besides..what else will we all watch over the summer?!    I don't think they actually sail too much.  I think they'll go to another port/island someplace close...but I think that's about it.  So once it's down to 3 they probably won't actually be sailing.  We'll see I guess!!!  I was glad they voted John off.  He was weird!  Smart and cunning but weird!    I liked his face when the host said it was unanimous and he thought it was that JD would be going...he was all smug and smiling and then he said John, you're going home...he looked like a deer in headlights.  Mean I know, but that's why we love reality TV!!!!  I'm tuning in next week!!! (can you all tell that I love talking about TV and movies yet??)

Mynde - I am going to continue watching.  I can't stand America's Got Talent, and love Reality shows, so no fear, I will be here to talk to you about it.

And yes, John was weird.  Smart, but weird. lol

This week should be interesting though!

Danette - you can watch it this week hopefully.  It isn't that bad, it just wasn't as good as I thought it would be!

This is a reality show that you should be able to pick up in the middle, and still see what is going on, so don't worry about missing the premier.

I have a feeling that it will get better as it gets further in. A show like this is hard to explain everything right off as we all want the action to start.

I think we have to remember that JD is now acting as a captain of a pirate vessel would have. The captain has to rule with an iron fist to make sure the ship runs smoothly but has to always remember to reward his crew at times to to keep them happy. I am sure off camera he was told how to act as captain.

John was a weasel. If I were a member of the crew as soon as he held the ships compasses hostage to save his skin, I would have tossed him to the sharks. I give him credit for the try though.

First, I have to say kudos to CBS for bringing back Jericho next year (for at least a couple episodes)!!  This certainly warmed me up to watching Pirate Masters again!!

Actually I thought this episode was much better.  In the second episode of Pirate Masters, the game was explained a little more clearly.  Now I can see the pattern (ie. the captain can get fired if he loses the mission, the captain and first mates are always on the black team, and the captain gets one extra memember whenever the teams are uneven).  This certainly made the game more clearly, and now I can see some of the the interesting twists the people will face while on the ship.  Still surprised there are no votes against JD yet, and I can imagine he will be treated bad whenever he loses a mission.  But needless to say, the prospect of a new captain, and then new first officers certainly makes the show interesting.  JD did something very smart too, buy hiring someone else to give the orders to the crew.  This way, he doesn't seem like the bad guy in ordering people around.  I actually liked last nights episode, with the exception of voting out Christian Okoye.  I would have loved to see how far he could go.
