Day 7

Friday May 25th

Grandma and Grandma headed home, so we were on our own today.  First we got up and got ready and went out to breakfast.  I couldn’t stand eating breakfast for one more day at the Candy Cane Inn, I was sick of the same thing day in and day out.  I can’t even stand looking at another bagel.  After breakfast we headed down to the Newport Beach area again.  We took the kids to the Balboa Pier Fun Zone.  It wasn’t that much fun because all they really had was a carousel and a Farris wheel.  We wandered around the shops a little bit and killed time waiting for Aunt Jeni to get off work.  While we were killing time we found a playground right on the beach and let the kids run around.

Finally Aunt Jeni met us and we headed over to Ruby’s 50’s style diner for lunch.  It’s right on the end of the Balboa pier.  We had a nice lunch up on the patio and got to chat with Jeni.  After lunch we walked back to the parking lot and said our goodbye’s to Aunt Jeni.  The kids only usually get to see her on holidays, so they are going to miss her.

We headed back to Candy Cane Inn for a quick nap.  After nap we headed over to DTD so Charlie & Daddy could use up the rest of their video game credits they had at the ESPN zone.  Again I got stuck chasing Payton around while they played.  After there 300 and something credit were done we tried to find a place to eat, but we quickly realized it was Friday night and everything had a 2 hour wait.  We ended up walking to Denny’s across the street for a quick bite to eat.  As we left the Disneyland Resort area Payton waved and said “Bye-Bye, Mouse.”

After dinner we went back to the room and started getting things together for our long trip home the next morning. We went to bed early as we planned on getting up at the crack of dawn to hit the road; suddenly we couldn’t wait to get home.

Day 8

Saturday May 26th

We left Candy Cane Inn at 7AM and made it home by 2:15PM.  That even included a stop for a late breakfast, gas, and potty breaks.  Now you can understand why I said my husband’s driving is like Indiana Jones.  We were all glad to be home, my mom brought our dogs home that morning, so they were waiting and wagging there tails when we got there.  Saturday night when we put Charlie to bed, he couldn’t find his beloved Polar Bear, Klondike, anywhere.  We searched the house and couldn’t find him anywhere.  I filed a “missing persons report”  with the Candy Cane Inn, but heard nothing back until this past Tuesday evening.  They found him.  THANK GOD!  My husband was even on the internet looking for a replacement Polar Bear.  They are mailing him back and we should have him within a couple of days!  Charlie’s been having a hard time getting to sleep without him.  I just told him Klondike must have wanted to have a few extra days at Disneyland.  I wish I could have too!

Awww it is so sad to leave, but so nice to be back home isn't it!

Good story about Klondike - did your son buy it?

You do live close - a 5 hour drive!  Wow.

Saying bye bye Mouse - that is priceless!

Thanks for the wonderful reports Wendi!

I am so glad you was able to find his bear.  We had that happen 2 years ago with Kyan's blanket we left it in Georgia and didn't realize it till 2 hours down the road.  We immediately called the hotel and they went in and found it and said they would hang on to it till we come back through.  But it was a rough week till we went back through Georgia.
