| Day 6 Thursday May 24th This was the day we were able to get up at our leisure. After we got up, got ready, and ate breakfast, we headed to Costa Mesa to pick up Aunt Jeni at her apartment. From there we headed down to Newport Beach. My kids have never seen the beach. Charlie immediately ran down to the water and got soaked! Payton was having fun chasing the seagulls. Charlie decided he was uncomfortable in his wet sandy shorts so he proceeded to walk Newport Pier in his Power Ranger underwear and t-shirt. My father-in-law decided to rent a “Duffy” boat for 2 hours. We had a wonderful time cruising laceName w:st="on">NewportlaceName> laceType w:st="on">HarborlaceType> and Balboa Point. We took along an ice chest and bag of goodies. We drank mimosas and snacked on chips/dips, etc. We were on the lookout for Sea Lions, but never saw one. Wow, do people have a lot of money down there, some of the homes are incredible. As we headed back to the hotel, both kids fell asleep in the car. We all laid down for naps when we got back to our room. We slept until about 4PM when we had to get up and get ready for the Pirate Dinner Adventure. We arrived at the Pirate Dinner Adventure at 4:30. They ask you to get there 90 minutes ahead of the scheduled seating time for appetizers and a pre-show. My husband Chuck is the type of guy that is outgoing and volunteers for everything. Well wouldn’t you know it my husband volunteered and found himself doing the can-can dance up on stage with 3 other guys. It was pretty funny! After we were done with the appetizers it was time for the show to begin. We sat in the blue section, which was off to the side so they weren’t the best of seats. The food wasn’t that great, but I didn’t expect much from a show like this. It was neat watching everybody screaming for their team. They had everybody swinging their mugs from side to side singing “Drink, Drink, Drink like a pirate.” Even Payton got into it swinging his sippy cup from side to side. Everybody in the family was in the show besides Payton. Charlie was the first one to be in the show; he was brought on stage with other kids and sworn in as a pirate, he even got a certificate to prove it. Next I was in the show with my mother-in-law, and sister-in-law we had to do a relay race against the other teams. Next Chuck and his dad hoisted the sales and brought out the lanterns. Then Charlie was in the show another time, they dressed him up and he came out and shot a gun at the bad guy. All in all it was a fun dinner. Daddy bought the boys each a pirate gun before we left. | | So that boat Duffy thing you were in - is it a boat? How much is it to rent? The Pirate Dinner show - can you go into the topic in the Disneyland section and say a few words there as well? Between you and Rob - there is now a ton of info on that show - I may have to take it and do a review for the two of you to peruse before posting it on the site! Both of you though food okay, entertainment fun! Leanne

| | Yeah... The Duffy was a electric boat with a canvas top and side curtains, I think the one we rented seated up to 12 people. My father-in-law rented it, it was around $95/hour. It was really nice. We are a boating family, the only thing that we were missing was our dogs. Our older dog loves to go out in the boat, we haven't yet taken Cassi (our puppy). Here is a link to the Duffy boat website. http://www.duffyboats.com/ Rob - We did do all the same things just about a week apart. We would have ran into each other alot if we would have went the same week! |
