Warning before you start reading I am wordy. I tend to go on and on. So it's a long one.Day 1
Okay this is our 6th family trip to Disney World. People on the trip was me, my husband Troy, 6 year old son Trey and 3 year old daughter Kyan. We leave Illinois at 1pm Friday afternoon and make it to 5 miles from Florida the first night The kids are real troopers and never really complained or cried about it.. We really only had 2 meltdowns from Kyan and one was right before bedtime. She was so disappointed we had not made it to WDW yet. About every 30 minutes I would hear from her, “Are we at Disney World yet?” “What are we going to do it’s raining and getting dark?” She didn’t like that we stopped for the night and we was not are Disney World. She immediately demanded to go home. (No way honey. We are 3 hours from DW.)
Day 2
We got a late start. We was all really tired. But all I had to say to Kyan was we are going to DW today and she bounced up and was smiling. We arrived at our resort the All Star Sports at noon and check-in was smooth and easy less than 10 min. The check-in lady immediately handed us are “Happy Anniversary “ pins and then asked if it was the kids first time. “Well no” I said and she still gave them “First trip “ pins. I was so excited for them because I really wanted them to have those pins. So we head off to eat lunch because our room wasn’t ready and immediately the manager of the hotel approached us and said “This is your first trip?” and I was like, no and told him about the lady gave the kids the pins because mom and dad received theirs. And he said well that is okay and then asked how many times we have been here. And I said the last 6 years in row and he goes well we love you then.
So after lunch. We immediately went to the van and got the swim bag that I had pre-pack separate. We then get in the line for Typhoon Lagoon. Which was the same bus that went to Downtown Disney. Well it hit me after about 5 minutes on the actual bus that it only said DD not DD/TL. So at the DD stop Troy went up and asked the driver if we took the wrong bus ? The driver said no he will take us to TL. But this driver was extremely slow we finally arrived at TL 35 minutes later.
At TL we entered the lazy river and took it around to the exit for the Shark Reef. This was something Trey had been bragging about doing and when we get there he goes into chicken mode. We finally convince him to put on the life jacket and take the mask and go to the water. Well when he puts his feet in the water he freaks and immediately I take him off. Troy and Kyan went through but Ky’s a mommy’s girl and got upset halfway through and started crying for me. The cast member in the water went up to her and immediately had her smiling but she wouldn’t look down in the water. When they was down Troy had Trey do it and when they got in he immediately took off the mask and wouldn’t look down. But when he got out he said, “Are you proud of me mom ?” What could I say he done it. “Yes I am so proud of you. Do you want to do it again?” No way was his answer. Finally my turn to go on through the shark reef. I love this attraction and could spend so much time doing it and when I went I was by myself. So I took my time and spend 10 minutes getting a crossed. I am hoping the pictures turn out. A leopard shark swam directly under me inches from my body and the fish was so close I could touch but I didn’t. The hammerhead shark was swimming circles directly under me but down a lot further. My only complaint about this attraction is that they do not have children size snorkel and masks just one size fits all. And with little children this isn’t the case. Trey and Kyan’s mask both kept getting water in it and didn’t fit their faces correctly.
After the shark reef we walk over to Gangplank Falls family raft ride and done this twice in a row and we all laughed the whole way through both times. I love how your children’s laugh is so contagious. We convinced the kids to go over to Ketchakiddee Creek. And the kids splashed around and enjoyed the slides there. Especially the kid’s water slides. Then we headed over to Crush and Gusher the new water coaster. Well Trey wasn’t tall enough but I explained to him that this was something daddy really wanted to do and to tell him it was okay. I love my little man he said, “Dad go and I will play in the pool.” They had a pool 3 ft deep next to the splash zone of the ride. Great thinking Disney. So Troy went and said I had to go. I loved it. So much fun but short.
It was getting later and lots windier so we head to the hotel for our room number. Get into the room and head to the Animal Kingdom for the Rainforest Cafe for supper. We arrive and the wait was 45 minutes but since we had the Safari membership it was less than 5 mins. and we was seated right next to the elephants. We had the BBQ wraps and the kids shared a cheeseburger meal . Then we had a volcano for dessert Everyone loved it and agreed that we will always have a volcano every time we go back. Left AK and it was 8:30 so we hop the bus to the GF and then took the monorail over to MK. We walked in upon the Electric Parade and thankfully a CM got us to Main Street with gentle ease. Made it to Pirates of the Caribbean and it was a walk on. Love the additions but the sound was to low. Went over to do Haunted Mansion but the parade had made it there and we was blocked. We went back down and down Jungle Cruise. Loved our driver new jokes and she was from Denver. After the ride I asked about the maps and was told they don’t have them but they did have little guest skipper cards for the kids. So it was 9:58 and we ran over to HM but it was closed already and we started making our way out of MK for the hotel.
Back at hotel we got showers and the kids crashed immediately. And then I realized we had reservations at 8am and it was 1pm now. How stupid of me. Oh well it’s only this one day.
