Sorry it's taken me so long to post. We had a crazy week last week. Anyway, here's my report:

My son and I left home Friday morning for Carlsbad. We used Carlsbad as out home base. We stayed at the La Quinta Inn in Carlsbad, which was nice and clean. However, the noise bleed through the walls and ceiling and to the outside was horrible and I didn't sleep well the first night. We spent Friday afternoon at Legoland and then we met up with my sister in Oceanside. We went to the beach and had dinner at Ruby's Diner on the pier. While we were walking on the pier, we saw a pod of dolphins! That was really exciting. They were feeding and one of them jumped out of the water. I've never seen dolphins in their natural habitat before. After dinner we took a walk on the beach and looked for seashells. It was a fun day.

Saturday morning we met up with my sister again and we went to Disneyland. It was pretty crowded and some of the ride lines were pretty long. This was my son's trip to celebrate finishing 2nd grade so we rode what he wanted to ride. First we walked around and got fast passes for the Buzz Lightyear ride. The line for the Finding Nemo was way too long and so we'll have to try that another time. We had lunch at Redd Rocket's Pizza Port ands they were trying this new thing where they wanted everyone to wait in two lines. One line was for salads and pasta and one was for pizza. There was one cast member at the front door who was directing traffic, but once we got past him it was a free-for-all and not too many people were following the line directions. Which made the people who were following directions angry. But IMHO, I think it was stupid to make people wait in line that way because not everyone who wants salad wants pasta. So if they wanted to do lines, they should've had 3 lines instead of 2. But I digress.

I'm having trouble remembering the order that we did things. But we rode the Buzz Lightyear ride, the Matterhorn Bobsleds, the Pooh Ride, the Indiana Jones ride, and the Disney Railroad. We also went to the Pirate's Lair and we spent quite a bit of time there. It's very cool and I highly recommend checking it out! It's more fun than it was when it was just Tom Sawyer's Island. We went to Storyteller's Cafe for dinner (my son's request) and enjoyed a nice meal. We also did some shopping in Downtown Disney. We left the park around 11:00PM. They weren't able to have the fireworks that evening due to high winds. The second night at the motel was better because I put the a/c on and I had taken my laptop with me so I turned it on and played some music.

Then Sunday we met my sister for lunch at the Claim Jumpers down the road from the motel. It's a great restaurant with wonderful food. And then we went to Carlsbad Village but most of the shops we walked by were closed for the day. Then we went down to the beach and walked in the surf. Needless to say my son got his shorts and half his shirt soaked. Then we headed back home so we could spend the rest of the day with my husband for Father's Day.

All in all it was a great trip. Our time at Disneyland was much needed and well deserved.  LOL

Sounds like a great quick trip.

I love Claim Jumpers.  We used to always eat there when we went to Southern California, now we're lucky enough to have one where we live.  Our old condo used to be right across the street from it.  We found ourself having happy hour there all of the time before we had kids.  We would share some appetizers and get a couple drinks then walk back home...

Ahhhh.....  The gold old days!!!  lol

LOL yah the good old days.    My hubby and I were reminiscing recently about things we used to do when we were first married and poor with no kids.

I think my favorite drink at Claim Jumpers is the snuggler!    Best during the winter when it's cold and happy hour is going on!
