| | Hello to all, I'm a newbie here and was wondering if one of you nice people would offer a little advise on upgrading hoppers to AP's. My best friend and I will be at the park in Oct and have decided that we are going to upgrade our hoppers to deluxe AP's (one with parking). We are slightly confused about "where" to do this, is it at the ticket booth or inside the part at the "bank"? Also we are planning on just doing it first thing (on the Monday morning when we arrive) as, as we understand it waiting until the last day wouldn't give us those extra days on the AP's, and by doing it when we get there we'll be about to use the discounts while we are their for our 6 day stay. We are thinking of parking in the "free" DTD parking area (3 hours free) running over to the park getting the passes, then heading back to the car to run over to our hotel and check on and drop stuff off, then back to the park so we don't have to pay for parking that day at $11 plus pay the $59 for parking with my pass (or if you by the pass will they reimburse your parking for that day?). Is the 3 hours of free parking enough time to get the upgrade done? - I'm sorry so many questions for someone new that you don't know. The other part of my question comes from what type of discounts do you get with an AP at the Disney hotels? We have a suite at the Marriott Suites (1 mile from the park) for what I'd say is about 115/120 a night (we booked a package thru costco, so it's not broke down individually) but splitting between the two of us we are paying maybe 60 a night each for our hotel. We would love to do a Disney hotel on our next trip probably in Feb and we were wondering what the approx cost is with an AP discount but since we don't have the AP's yet we can't get an info on the prices (or I just haven't been about to find it). Also are there any other "discounts" with the deluxe passes that we don't "know" about I know it's selected food places but that we don't get discounts with regular purchases. Thank you so much for all of your assistance in advance!

| | Norr, welcome to the DML message boards! You have come to the right place. Let me first address your parking question. Yes, 3 hours should be plenty of time unless the AP line is really long. You enter Disneyland with your park hoppers, and go to the AP center which is the former bank of Main Street. Let them know you want to upgrade and within about 10 minutes you will have your AP's. The discounts with a deluxe apply to food only. Restaurants in the parks, the 3 Disney Hotels, and a few in Downtown Disney (ESPN Zone is one). When you upgrade be sure to pick up the pamphlet will all that discount information. As for the hotel discounts - the standard AP discount is 10% off the rack rate. They do occassionally put out special AP rates though. In fact, they did that this summer for fall travel. With the discount we just stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel for 129 per night. To give you an idea of the savings, we have a room booked there in December that is just the 10% off the rack rate, and that rate is 203 per night. So, when they do this, it is a good deal. I think I covered all of your questions, but if not, be sure to let me know! Leanne

| Thank you for your quick reply! You run a very nice board here, I'm still searching around and reading some of the other threads (I'm a mod at a racing board so I can appreciate how MB's are conducted). Yes you covered my questions, we were afraid we were going to have to stand in the ticket line, then in line to get in, then in line for our AP's, nice to know we can cut out at least one of those steps. Also thanks for the hotel rate info, looks like that's something that we'll just keep an eye out on and watch (Do they post that info on the AP section of the website). I'm a teacher with year round schedule so I'm off in Oct, Feb and June and we want to work in trips during each of those times with Oct being our "main" one each year this year it's a 6 day trip, and the AP's will allow us to be drop of the hat at times if we want as we are only about a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive. Again thanks for the INFO, you are great!

| | Norriski - once you are an AP member you will be able to access the AP info on the website, yes. And they do post the specials there. Problem is, they tend not to post them until they have been out a few days. Never fear though, I have my ways of finding out before they post it, so I will let you know of any further great deals on hotels they have! Leanne
