Well we just purchased our Annual passes. We arrived in CA a few months ago and hit downtown Disney on the way into town! Ever since then I have been antzy to go! We have been to WDW numerous times over the years. I have already been told to prepare because DL is much smaller. (I haven't been there for many years and I only remember my parents loosing the car in the fog! LOL..)
Well, we were told when we purchased our passes from base that they include parking. Just where can you park? Is there parking close to both parks? (I'm handicapped and worried about the walk with 5 kids..)

Is there a character dinner/lunch you'd recommend at DL?

We are looking so forward to the time at DL! I know the ticket office lady about died when I came in asking to purchase 5 season passes. They looked at me like I grew two heads! Little did they know we have 2 other kids that are just to young to have to purchase tickets yet! LOL The woman made some snide comment about me purchasing so many tickets.... she's just jealous is what I told DH! LOL

Any tips are welcome!

Welcome to the DML message boards Family!

You will love Disneyland.  Yes it is smaller, but is completely wonderful.  Magic abounds there!

The parking lot you park in is the Disney Parking Garage.  Then you will take a tram to the security area.

Are you in a wheelchair?  You mentioned that you are handicapped, but didn't mention that, so I am asking so I can help you and give you more details if that is the case.

With Annual Passes, you will also get 10% discounts on meals at most places within the Resort, including Character Meals.  My two favorites are Goofy's Kitchen and Breakfast with Minnie and Friends.  I can highly recommend both.  Breakfast with Minnie and Friend includes Minnie, and usually Pooh and Tigger, Chip and Dale and one other character.  There is also always a villain such as Captain Hook.  Goofy's Kitchen has Goofy, Pluto outside for pictures, usually Chip and Dale, at least one Princess, and a secondary character such as Baloo or Max.

If you purchase the Premium Passes, you will also get discounts on shopping.

Thank you for the information about the character meals. (Our oldest is already wanting his birthday at DL with a character meal!)

I am in a wheelchair some of the time. It just depends if I am having a good day or a bad day when we are out and about. The other times I use a walker or a cane depending on how I feel.
I have a friend that is a CM at WDW and she thought I would get a discount on the wheelchair/strollers there too so we wouldn't have to cart ours with us. I was going to find out next week when we head up there! I love our kids stroller so DH wanted me to look into just the options for me.

Also can you take small coolers into the park (with sippy cups and breastmilk/formula)?

Hello and welcome to the boards!

I have been an Premium AP holder for several years and I have several tips I can share with you. First, I recommend checking out the Annual Passholder section of the Disneyland website. www.disneyland.com. They have a lot of great information and they let you know what current specials and events are coming up. Right now they are offering AP rates at the hotels. You can get discounts at most of the Downtown Disney and park restaurants. You can also get discounts on purchases at the DTD and park shops. The website lists the discounts and which businesses and eateries honor them.

As far as parking goes, there are a few things you can do. You can have your family drop you off at the Bus/taxi entrance which is off of Harbor Blvd. The gate to the Entrance Plaza is right there as well as wheelchair and stroller rentals. My family has utilized this option in the past when my grandmother came to the park with us. Also, the Lion King parking lot is off of Harbor Blvd. and the lot is not as big as the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure. There is handicapped parking spaces and your family can even drop you off at the tram waiting area before parking. Just notify the CMs as you're coming into the lot and they will accomodate you. If you have any questions about handicapped parking options or getting dropped off, you can call the Disneyland Info line: 714-781-4567.

There is also handicapped parking at the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure. You can access the structure from the 5 freeway and exit onto Disneyland Dr. The wait for the tram is much longer, however, and the walk to the Entrance Plaza is also longer and there are a lot more people to deal with. Plus you have to walk across the Entrance Plaza to get to the wheelchair/stroller rentals. So IMHO, I think it'll be easier for you to park in the Lion King parking lot.

I hope this helps! Have a great trip!

They won't give any wheelchair rental discounts but you might want to try a local company called  Alan's Wheelchairs to see if they can help you.  If you do this, you will not have to leave it at Disneyland when you leave the park!

Thanks Lisa on the parking info - having never parked in the lot, that was a great help.

Lisa, Thank you for the great info! Dh and I are taking notes!!!

Leanne thank you for the WC place name. I am hoping that I won't be needing it the first trip. We'll see how things go. Normally on a bad day we stay home and just do things around the house but I'm all motivated to get as much use from our passes as we can this year!
