As we figured a showdown between the David's.

David Archuletta is reminding me a lot of Reuben (season 2).  He's a master at ballads, but for the love of God.....don't sing anything else!!  He looked like he was having fun or he plastered a smile on his face.... for a singer, he doesn't have much rhythm.  He really struggled with the 2nd song & I found it painful to listen & watch.

David Cook is really a find for this show.  I'm actually surprised he made it to the finals because the rockers usually don't. (case in point: Daughtry who was very very good).  I'm very interested to see who wins this, but from past finales I see this being set up to showcase David A. with the "song" being quite sappy & slow.

I kinda feel after watching every season faithfully, not missing one show, that the judges really pick out their favorites & persuade america to love them too.  Syesha is extremely talented & the judges have rode her from day one & for Paula to say "I don't think that was good enough to get you into the finals" was shocking coming from her.  In her "loopy" world she lives in, the producers probably said to the judges, make sure you keep the 2 David's in & Paula slipped.  Very uncharacteristic for her to say that.....Simon on the other hand always makes those comments.  Just kinda proves to me, that there is a bigger plan behind the scenes & the judges try to convince america to follow suit.

So will America crown the cutesy high school boy that can croon & only croon -OR- will they pick the rocker that has a versitle talent & should win hands down but probably won't.

In the background I can hear the fans shout.....Reuben Reuben Reuben

Just my thoughts!!

DisneyDreamer-- I feel the exact way about the final.  Yes, David A can sing, and yes he is a great crooner.  He just seems to me like he is a little out of his element when he has to put it together, and do something else.  Like you said, it looks like he has a smile plastered on his face.  If you remember when he had the problems with the lyrics We can work it out, he was trying to walk down some steps and look cool at the same time.  He is not good at that.  Brooke White was terrible at that!  On the other hand both Syeshya and Chikezie were both very good at that...

I like David Cook, and find it funny that he tried out only because he was there with his brother who was trying out.  In my opinion, David Cook has shown much more versatility, being able to sing slow songs (First Time Ever I saw your face) and many rock songs (Billy Jean) and also songs you think he couldn't pull off (The Music of the Night).  BTW, Did anyone notice Andrew Lloyd Weber last night in the crowd?

I really think they got the best two in the final, but perhaps you are right, we were influenced by the judges.  I hope they both bring their A game next week, and makes for an exciting final.  While not the best season of Idol, I can say that the final 12 was very unique and I would at least listen to a couple artists if they produced tracks which might get radio airplay.

I saw not only Andrew Lloyd Weber, but also all of the former top 12 and a few others from previous seasons.  AI obviously gives preferential treatment to former contestants where seating is concerned.

Definitely - the best two are in the final.  My expectation is that David C will win.  I love David A's voice, but he has a lot of room to grow.  I also feel that it doesn't really matter who wins.  Both of these David's are going to be stars in the Music Industry.  It would almost be better for David C if he didn't win - then he could go off on his own without having to have the show produce him.

Also I have always felt that the judges really try to pursuade the people watching.  You are totally right - it was very unlike Paula to make the comment to Syesha.  That is normal Simon's job.  I do think they had Paula say it because a lot of people DO listen to her, and she is normally the 'good guy' so to hear those words from her had to really have affected the tv audience.  They pretty much had it set up for a David final from day 1.

Don't get me wrong everyone - I have said from the start that I loved David A's voice.  That has never waivered.  Who do I like better as a singer?  David C - hands down!

I decided that when Fantasia sang last night, it was time to use the facitilies.  I have never liked her.  But I did see her hair and have to say:  What was she thinking?

Danette - I agree with you - Syesha will do very well on broadway.

Tink, I don't think I've ever laughed that hard at American Idol when they showed Simon when Fantasia was singing.  I'm not sure if they might have edited it in the west coast or not, but the camera made a quick cut to Simon, and he had this incredible blank stare on his face, almost in disbelief.  Really it was a very funny moment!!  An incredibly bad cut.

From seasons past I have always felt that the 1st single song has been geared more towards one contestant than the other.  What are the chances that the song will have a bit of an edge to it.....probably pretty slim.  I can already hear the judges to David Cook....that just didn't work for you......ugh!!

I totally agree that David Cook would be much better off NOT winning & signing outside of the show.  The contract & schedule they make those contestants do is horrible & that's why as soon as they can get cut free they do & move on.  David Cook would probably be forced into doing a pop style album that would not represent him at all.  Chris Daughtry was thankful to be cut loose & he's done very well for himself.

David Archuletta will most likely win this because they have been grooming him to win it since he auditioned.  The songs he does for the finale will suit his style & the judges will drool all over themselves.

Don't get me wrong..... I like both singers, but they are both very different & David A. is what these reality popularity contests are about.  Young, cute, moldable, who lets everyone do his thinking.  David C. is a natural talent with a mind of his own & he would be better suited to do HIS type of music & not Idols idea of music.

Congrats to both of them & let the more popular David win.....lol

I had read somewhere that once you make it to the top 24, AI owns you for as long as they own the winner, you can sign with a label but AI still reaps the benefits of that....don't know it that's true or not. And we haven't had a rocker win so I'm still standing by my theory that it's rigged and they need a rocker to win so David C is the winner.

And dang it, I'm mad that we deleted the show without watching, we both already knew who had been cut so didn't bother to watch it, but I would have loved to see Simon's face! I never liked Fantasia either.

And if the song is a sappy love song David C will most definitely be able to turn it into a monster ballad! Go David C!

I would like to take this time to point out that I did not vote once this season, not even on the one show (AI gives back) I wanted to, whoops, my bad.

What?? I'm the first to comment on tonight's show? Well, first time for everything! LOL

Okay, love David C, David A, while I can listen to him, I can't watch him perform. He's very stiff and he never really seemed to loosen up. I just feel like David C is the better, by far, performer. I'm still callin' the rocker as a winner.
