Although the older rides could use a bit of updating, I really hope that they don't destroy the spirit of the Small World ride by trying to add characters that don't belong. And I think the American section of the ride is plenty patriotic; why destroy the rain forest?? I don't know what they are thinking; I'm not convinced that the DCA overhaul is going to improve things. I really like the Plaza the way it is. The fountain is so cool and I like the whole ocean/beach look. They did an awesome job with the Finding Nemo ride. I would hate to see them ruin the parks with bad ideas.

I think all rides need to change once in awhile.... not big changes but atleast little ones... how fun would it be to go every year or 2-3 times a year and have the same things over and over again.... its like saying don't change the parades or fireworks... it would get boring if everything was always the same everytime.... Don't get me wrong... you need the same idea of what it was to start with, but adding a new room or new little "surprises" make it interesting and give it some thing new to anticapate (sp). Beside IASW is a nice ride... but i think they need to update it some how... even the charecters would make it more fun for a "rowdy " 4 yr, I remember last time we went michael was about 16 months and loved it... Nico was 4 and by half way getting alittle ansie. Where as if they charecters he knows are in there you can make it like a game... can you find stitch, or peter or this....  But those are my thoughts.... some people like it to stay the same always! No matter what someone will always be unhappy!

Ashley and the guys.... 4 more months till baby! I need girl so i'm not alone!

Okay, here's my feelings on the Patriotic room (since I seem to be the odd man out and not really sure about adding it) I'm not against adding a USA room, but I'm afraid they'll take it overboard and make it look cheesey and silly. There are things that can be done to show very strong patriotism and there are things that can make it seem silly. I'm afraid they're going to take the Flag and dress the children in flag clothes (which by the way is against the law, the flag shall not be made for wearing or printed/sewn on anything disposable) and it'll look silly. That's why I'm hesitant about the possibility of them adding it.

I do wonder who coined the patriotic term for the idea of a new usa room, was the term used to cause an uproar. I have no problem adding a room celebrating the children of the usa but I can just as easy keep it the same. If the ride is supposed to be off limits beyond touching, I don't remember the family complaining about the holiday changes although I could be wrong.

Without change at disneyland we wouldn't have splash mountain, space mountain, star tours, buzz, new parades, new characters, new shows. I loved Disneyland as a kid and miss a lot of the old rides that have disappeared forever but I also love the new ones that have risen in their places for the most part.

It is easy for us to judge what happens inside Disneyland but without change it would never grow, it would become like the rest of the parks that struggle to survive. I don't ever want it to become a thrill park as some of the others because then it would cease to be neverland to those of us who want to become kids forever. I don't feel alive at other parks, I don't feel the magic in other parks. I do at Disneyland but that doesnt mean new magic cannot be created. Rides wear out, need to be updated but can still have that innocent kid like quality that Walt instilled in every fiber of his park, our park.

I do wish that a museam would be created to show the rides that have left so we can never forget them and to see parts of them again.

I agree Keith!  Your words never fail to make me misty eyed!!!

A museum with old rides would be awesome!  We should all start putting that in the suggestion box at DL and WDW!!!!

That is what the 50th thing in the Lincoln room was about - it showed old rides and everything.

I do think if they do a USA room/patriotic room they will do it nicely.  It is very well done for Christmas each year, and not tacky at all.

Another article from Brady can be found here.  This one tells about a character to be added, and give information on the location.

The comments under that article are interesting to read.

Let me know what you think!

Ok, what is with these people?!!  Do they really think whatever Disney does to change the ride will be that bad?  Sorry, it's a treasure, but it needs updated!!!  Who cares what the original concept designer built?!  Do they think this designer would not want it to be updated...ever?!  Ugh!  At least they are going to stick to the color and design scheme...just updating it.  And why can't it have subtle Disney characters added?  It's not going to be an all out Alice room.....she'll just be mixed in there with all the other kids!  I'm for it!

Yep Mynde - you just about said what I was thinking.  I sent Brady an email too regarding how nasty those comments were.  Some people are just nuts. lol
