Day 5- Epcot and Downtown Disney

So this morning I had the bright idea to get everyone up and going because I wanted to be there at opening. Little did I know that everyone else had the same idea. We got there at 8:15 yep a whole 45 minutes before opening. At about a quarter till I believe we was going through the entry gates and then right past Spaceship Earth and then you stop and wait again. We was actually lined up through the Innoventions walkway to head directly to Soarin. We was probably 50 people back from the front. We did get to see the characters come out and the Test Track car but that was about it. We couldn’t hear anything or see much of the interactions. Then we counted down from ten and I made Troy carry Ky. Trey walked with me as I pushed an empty stroller through the cattle herds. I wish I would have been thinking an actually video taped it. It was organized chaos. After parking the stroller we follow the masses going directly to Soarin. We decided to wait, it was less than 10 minutes and we was flying over California. After the ride Troy waits in a line to get fast passes while the kids and I go on Living with the Land.

Then we was off to see my favorite friend, Figment. After riding and exploring our imagination we decide to take in the Honey I Shrunk the Audience show. This was so-so. I really wish it was redone but I don’t see that happening without changing the attraction completely. So then we walk over to do Nemo but the wait was 40 minutes long. Which I knew better because this evening it would be a walk on with no wait. *So remember that people if the ride is busy wait till evening. So I took us through the gift shop into the Turtle Talk show, always a favorite and must do. Coming out we stop to make some fish faces and get are pictures with some “clowns” fish. So we are decided to grab some lunch at the Sunshine Season Food Fair. I decide to have pork chop with mashed potatoes and salad. Troy had the ham and salami sandwich, which he said was hard. The kids both had a chicken leg with rice and pudding. For dessert we shared a brownie and butterfinger cheesecake. The total came to $37.07. After lunch we go Soarin again and I have to point out the hidden mickey for everyone to watch for. During the ride Trey yells out "I seen it mom!" and Kyan reminded everyone to lift there feet so they don't get wet.

We decided to spend the rest of the day exploring Downtown Disney and letting the kids spend their cold hard cash that was burning a hole in their pocket. But as we was leaving we get our sign from above. It was too cute to not pass up a few pictures on.

As we are getting ready to walk to the World Showcase boats we stop in at Club Cool to let the kids explore their taste buds. I surprised them with the Beverly. And Kyan found herself a drink and planted herself on the stairs just enjoying her refreshments. As we was leaving Trey thought he would swing under the rail of the stairs and smacked himself into a plexiglass window on the stairs. It was so funny. He just bounced off and was stunned for a minute and started laughing.

So we take a boat to the Boardwalk hotel and then hop a bus to DD. We just timed everything perfect and didn’t wait longer than 5 minutes. We go to the shops at DD and Trey spends all his money on the monorail set and the Contemporary Resort and new tow truck and pace car from “Cars”. I ended up buying him the race official car , a potato head for my pre-k class and then I also got the build your own potato head but I didn’t put the body in the box. We then go into the World of Disney and Kyan spends most of her money on a Jasmine outfit, crown, and shoes. I purchased 2 disney bear books, a puzzle, 2 choc lollipops, a mug for my mom, a lithograph, measuring spoons, and I also get the disney throw they was offering for $15. We then decide to leave so we go back the way we got there. And we had all of our purchases shipped to the hotel.

When we get back to Epcot it was time to dine with the fishes. We was 20 minutes early and let me tell you they did not seat us early. So we planted ourselves on the floor and broke out the Uno game. We are finally seated and I really wasn’t that impressed. Our server was great and patient with the kids as they was a little rowdy. The server also gave us a fish guide which didn’t impress the kids because they couldn’t see the tank. This was the first restaurant that allowed us to get either a strawberry freeze, or coconut freeze to drink on our meal plan. Trey had a strawberry freeze, mac-n-cheese and ice cream sundae and Kyan had the same but with a coconut freeze. Oh and they let them have french fries as their appetizers. Which was great. Troy and I both had NY strip with cheesy potatoes and broccoli. We both also had the chocolate wave, contains alcohol so don’t give the kiddos a bite. We was also served bread before our meal came and it was great. Everything about the food was awesome but we wasn’t really close to the tanks so it made it hard to keep the kids entertained. Also only one seat facing the tank was visible for them. The other side the wall was too high and the kids couldn’t see. So I would say the viewing from our location was horrible. Also the one thing I noticed it was so loud in the restaurant. Would I go again? Yes, but just for the food. The food was so good! Our total came to $119.

This picture is from the man setting about 2 tables away in front of us. Sorry, I had forgot to take a picture of ours.

After dinner we ride Nemo with no wait. We decided to leave Epcot even though there was EMH for there and instead went to the MK it was open till 1am. When we arrived we was escorted through the backlots from Main St into Tomorrowland. Troy and I was both excited to be going behind the scenes. I had to try really hard not to take any pictures but I did it. When then went on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority and guess what Space MT was broke down so we got to the track with the lights on. I attempted to snap some pictures.

We then go on Goofy’s roller coaster 10 times in a row. I was so tired of that ride and I had to pull the kids off it. We also got to watch Wishes from the many rides of Goofy’s. We then checked out Minnie and Mickey’s house and it was empty. What a nice pleasure. We then got to ride Dumbo with only a 20 minutes wait, and then Kyan got to ride on Cinderella’s horse. This became a habit and she thought she had to ride Cinderella’s special horse. We got ready to get on the horse and this teenager jumps on the horse as I was putting her on it. I was so mad and Kyan started crying. So I walked up to the lady working and asked to wait for the next ride. We was talking to the cast member about it and she was making sure we knew which one it was and directed us straight to it when the ride stopped. She also let us go a little earlier than the rest of the people. So I plopped Kyanrella on the horse and she was all smiles again. Then this other lady comes rushing up to me and was like “oh someone’s all ready on it” I told her sorry and told her how we waited but she seemed a little upset and rode behind us. When the ride was over she waited and put her kids on the horse as soon as I got Ky off. Then we was off to ride Snow White and then we called it a night.

Total food for the day: 156.57 our cost $95.96

Saved $60.54

Up next: A day at the beach and who‘s “Uncle Dale” is it?

Wow K sounds like a fun-filled day!!!  Kyanerella made me laugh!   I'm glad the castmember working it was nice and let you get her on the horse!  Thanks for the update on Coral Reef.  Was that a real turtle in the picture?

I loved the Kyanrella too!  That made me laugh.

What a wonderful day, and you just made me realize that Andy has to go to Epcot for Nemo if nothing else.  One goal for his trip in June is to get video of each ride that is different at the two parks.  Our Nemo at Disneyland is MUCH different, so he needs that video.  I don't suppose you took it and could send it to us did you? lol

I love your reports! I'm glad K got to ride her horse! So the food is good at Coral Reef, maybe if I'm wearing my birthday button we'll get better seats? I'm glad at least the food was good. I love the pic of K sittin' on the steps, she's so cute!

Did you see the make your own my little pony? We saw it in passing and thought it might be cool. I love the potatoe head thing. If I taught little kids, I would have been all over that.

yes, Kyan wanted one but she has my little ponies at home and never touches them. I have one little boy in my pre-k class that decorates the potatoe head each day and has me leave it for the display of the day. They are having such fun with it.
