Okay, so I'm sure everyone knows about the "think green" stuff going on and you know what, we're going to do some of that stuff!

Jake and I decided a long time ago to buy the energy saving light bulbs, that worked well in the apartment but in the house, we don't have enough! I was just at Wal-Mart this morning, a pack of 3 is on sale for $7.95, we buy 4 packs and that's all the bedrooms and the living room converted over. Oh, I guess I should mention we've had our first set of lights (they are currently in our floor lamp and the night stand lamps) since we were in WA. For those of you who don't know, we left WA a year and a half ago and we probably had them for almost a year before we left, so far we're going on about 2 years with none of them burning out. We also already recycle aluminum cans.

Another thing we just recently did was buy some nalgene bottles for $7.50 each, that is less than what we spend on bottled water a month, approx. $20 for about 2 1/2 cases. We can wash these and refill them with our own water, which brings me to the next thing we did, we bought a Pur water filter system. For now we go the pitcher (with the flavor adder thingy so we can choose to have flavor water) because that is something we can take camping with us instead of bottled water. We eventually are going to get the faucet adapter for the kitchen sink.

While I was in Wal-Mart I saw the t-shirts that are made with recycled plastic bottles. They are $7.50 each and some of them are cute, and I do need some new t-shirts! Wal-Mart is also giving away an alternative to their plastic bags, a reusable grocery bag. I've seen these before elsewhere, but can't remember where. I'm planning on getting a couple of these as well because, although I do reuse the plastic bags, I always end up with way too many.

Coke also has a whole line of recycled "fashion" click here to see a selection.

I know I've used Wal-Mart a lot but that's because I was just there and honestly, that's what gave me the idea to start this topic, I want to see what else there is out there to think green.

Another big thing Jake and I are planning on, buying at least me a scooter to ride to and from work on nice days. Living in TN we have a ton of "nice days" that I'd be able to ride it. Starting right now until probably mid Nov I'd be able to use almost every day, that's a lot of gas saved as scooters typically get from 70-85 mpg!

So, is anyone else thinking green or am the only one? And do you have any more pointers or quick fix "green" solutions?

We're bad too! That's why we're starting all this now, electricity has gone up out here and I don't want my bill to climb this summer with the A/C. And the scooter thing, well, I'm sick of gas prices going up so am going to do something about it!

Oh, and I forgot, I've started using Method products as well. They are pet/child/Earth friendly and it smells good! I've only used the omop and the glass cleaner w/micro fiber cloth and the wood conditioning cloths. I'm in love with their products and will probably slowly switch over to their line completely as I run out of cleaning supplies. For their glass cleaner, I have only one of their cloths (it was free when I bought my glass cleaner, which by the way, smells like peppermint, wood cleaner stuff smells like almonds, and non-wood floor stuff smells citrusey, that's all I've managed to get to smell before Jake moves me along) to clean the glass with but a lot of windows. What I did was buy a cheapy pack of microfiber car wash rags and use them until they get dirty and grab a clean one. Then when I do a load of towels I just throw the lot of them in!

I think it is an awesome idea. I am all for it. I wish I could get my husband and kids on board. I have purchased a couple of the bags for Wal-Mart but I always forget to use them. I am going to look into the filter system as I am always buying bottled water, but I have been refilling my bottles instead of throwning them out. This is gallon size.

Where did you buy the Method products at?

The only places I've found Method products at are Target and Lowe's. Target has the bigger variety.

Clorox has a new line out called GreenWorks, I think. And those bottles say think green on them, I think. I know a lot of brands are coming out with alternate products to "think green".

I have never seen reusable bags at Walmart - I will have to look!  We do use our plastic bags for a lot of stuff though.

The only Method product I have is a furniture cleaner and I can't remember where I got it, but I love it!

We are going green in our house too.  We started changing out our bulbs too.  Our kitchen light would
