That's not a bad idea Kristi. Do ya'll have someone that will pick up recyle bins or do you have to take them to a center yourself? We don't have anyone that picks them up and I haven't found the centers yet. Probably will this weekend though.

Actually Trey brought home a paper yesterday that they are offering a pick up service twice a month and you don't have to separate it and it will be $10 or less.  We are going to call and see if we can be serviced since we live technically out of town

Great Topic!

We are trying to do our best to live green. We bought a Prius about 2 years ago, and I always try to combine trips.

I've bought the grocery bags, but I'm terrible about remembering to take them with me! We've cut way back on pre-packaged foods (for health and environmental reason). Not much packaging waste when you are buying fresh produce, and bulk oatmeal from the healthfood store.

We've also replaced our lightbulbs with the energy saving ones, and I now turn my oven off a good 5-10 minutes prior to the recipe's recommendation, and let the residual heat finish cooking our food.

Ohh Elaine, the oven tip is a good idea! Especially since we use a baking stone for most everything which cooks when it gets hot as well. I'll have to start trying that.

You use and oven?  I live with the microwave.  And in the summer, the gas grill.

Oh - and just kidding - we have a double over for a reason!

Wow, Leanne.....you have a double oven? I would love one of those. In my next kitchen, I want a double oven, and stainless steel appliances. And granite counter tops would be nice too.
