Did anyone else hear about the tragedy that happened at the Disneyland Hotel yesterday (May 2)??

A man in his 30's or 40's jumped off the balcony on the 14th floor commiting suicide!!  How extremely sad for all of those who witnessed this, works there, his family & friends & the Disneyland community as a whole.

Why do this at a place that is filled with families, a place known for happiness?  I just can't imagine being so miserable to take my own life but to do it in such a public place filled with children.

Just needed to vent a bit & share my sadness with this story.

You can read about it in the Orange County Register on line.

I think the same way! I mean its too bad it had to happen, but at the same time WHY on earth would he choose to do it where there are so many children and such a fun family orientated place! We have the same problem here in Vancouver, we have a skytrain (kinda like the monorail if you don't know what they are) and people are always jumping in front of them to commite sucicide. I always think what if theres a child sittting in the front seat .... i don't even let my boys sit in the front for that reason!

Ashley... waiting till i can go back to disneyland!!

We were in the park the day that this happened. We heard alot of ambulances and fire trucks and thought it was odd because it is a noise you don't usually hear around there, and had no idea what had happened until we got back to the hotel and saw it on the news.

That is awful Buzz - and you are right, those are NOT sounds you normally hear at the Happiest Place on Earth.  I hope you had a fantastic trip and that won't be your only memory from that vacation!

I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip.

Unfortunately someone in the frame of mind to jump to their death are not thinking about where who is around and who will see.  If this was the case then most people wouldn't committ suicide.

My thoughts are with his poor family who will be struggling to understand why this has happened.

You know Troy and I was both very distrubed by this news. I haven't read the article yet but I plan on it.

I mean why would you even consider doing it at a place like that, come on people

When someone commits suicide they are not in a good frame of mind.  They don't even think how everyone feels, or how much their death with hurt others.  They don't take into consideration the family members and friends that love them, so why would they even think about those they don't know.

I feel horrible for the family, as my own family went through this very thing in February.  I also feel very bad for those who witnessed this selfish act in a place of so much joy.  I just hope no kids saw this happen.
