My wife and I went to see the forth installment of the Indiana Jones saga last night with another couple. We had been camping all weekend and decided to pack up a day early because of a severe weather warning. The adults decided that we wanted to do an adult movie without our beloved children. We were sitting in the theater and had about a minute before the movie was to start when a couple employees came in and told us that there had been a tornado sighting not far from the theater and they had to clear the theater and we had to go into disaster safe rooms until the theater lock down was over. We spent 45 minutes waiting in a small room before the lock down was lifted and movies were resumed.

I enjoyed the new Indiana. I liked the original 3 better and the premise of this new film was a little far fetched but it was still amusing. I thought Harrison Ford did a good job even though his age did show. It was entertaining and how could you not get into it when the indiana theme music starts playing. I was looking forward to the return of Marion from Raiders but her character was a little goofy this time. It was worth seeing although I wish they would have gotten to making it before now.  It makes for a good diversion. This movie is not for young children. There are several scenes that will scare them. My wife even turned away during one with ants.

Okay Keith - I am going to ask you a few important questions.

A - you say it is not for children - how scary is it?  Would it be scary for Alex who has watched the other 3 movies, and all 6 Star Wars movies?  We have been debating taking him because he absolutely loves Indy, and loves the ride - so an honest answer here please - don't worry about offending me.

B - why do you say Marion was goofy?  We are thinking of going as Indy, Indy as a child, and Marion to the Halloween Party at Disneyland. lol

Leanne,I would say that if temple of doom or the melting people at the end of raiders didn't bother him then he should do okay with this one. It isn't really scary, its more gross in a few places but no more so than the first 3 films. There is a lot of fighting, shooting and such.

The reason I said Marion was goofy this time around is because in the first film she was this tough woman. In this film she enters the movie as the Marion we all loved but then starts making these lovey, dovey eyes and facial expressions at Indy. Still love the character but think Lucas toned her down too much.

I think your idea for halloween is great.

I liked this movie, however, the ending at the Mayan pyramid was a little strange for me.

Again, Indy and his gang can dodge hundreds of bullets and incredible situations -- even surviving an A-bomb!  I totally agree that Indy does show his age a little, but Harrison Ford can still be believable in that role.  I liked what happened to the fedora at the very end of the movie..

Ironically the ride at Tokyo Disney Sea is called Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Crystal Skull, which is pretty much a copy of the Disneyland ride.

HATED it and I'm a die-hard Indy fan.

If Lucas put as much effort into the story as he does the special effects, then maybe it would have been better. I won't give them away here, but was there one major plot point that came as a surprise? I saw the ending coming from a mile away and the straying from the biblical (Arc, Holy Grail) to the sci-fi stuff was a huge mistake.

Extremely disappointed. IronMan was way better. Actually, I liked Prince Caspian more too.....

While I have yet to see it, everything I've heard has been horrible. We've heard it from enough people that Jake and I are going to wait until it's available on On Demand. Besides, I need to rewatch the other ones as I don't remember them.

We saw it this weekend.  Alex loved it!  The ants had me squirming in my seat.  Yuck.

Yeah, the sci-fi portion was a big surprise.

I liked it, but not as much as the other films, and I think Harrison Ford did a great job.

My comment to Andy after the movie?

They have now completely set it up for Indy's son to take the reins.  Same name, but younger - and Shia got his start on the Disney channel of all things!  My guess is that was the point of this movie - to get a new star out there.  People may actually accept him taking over in the storylines now.

Okay I don't remember when the other movies was set but was it this far back in history. I mean this one was in 1957 and if his some was 18 or 19. That means the others were set in 1939 that doesn't seem right for me. But like I said I haven't watch the show for awhile.

I like the movie and all but I thought the sci-fi twist added was wrong it just didn't seem to fit for me.
