Yes, my wife made it home....  With her CR1 visa...  A long journey, and the past couple weeks were very interesting and the decision wasn't made to give my wife a visa until last Tuesday....

The details....

Went to Hong Kong on July 5th, and attended American Citizen Hour in Guangzhou on July 7th.  The Visa Officer told me our case was very strong.  Spent 4 days in Hong Kong, and arrived back in Guangzhou on July 12.  July 14, Isabel had her visa interview--- and passed.  She was issued a piece of paper stating that her visa would be available on July 16.

July 16 came, and there was no visa...  Amazingly you cannot call the American Consulate, so you must send an email or fax.  We had to return to her city of Wuhan, because we were planning a celebration party.

On July 22nd, we were informed that there was a letter for my wife at the post office in Guangzhou.  She returned to Guangzhou on July 24th, and the letter requested that she return to the embassy for furthur administrative processing.

While at the embassy, they fingerprinted her 5 times and then told her she could leave, and they would make a decision on the visa.

On July 28th, we found out that they decided to issue a visa, and at 5:50 PM it arrived at the China Post.

My wife picked up the visa on July 29th, and we came back to Pittsburgh on July 31st.

14 months to process... 430 days from start to interview, and then 15 days to make a decision.... But in the end we got the visa!!!

congratulations and a big welcome to Izzy. A long wait but a great outcome. It is good to hear the good news. I am happy for both of you.

It's been a little busy so far.  Friday I had to meet my supervisor at work, and she was with me.  Friday night, she met my parents, and then we went to see my sister's band play at a small club.  Saturday was a little laid back, with the exception of seeing my cousin and his 11 month old son.  Sunday, I actually took her to a family reunion (maybe 120 people there).  On Monday, I brought her into work.  A little overwhelming at the beginning, but today she is left home alone.

Of course we have several things to do.....  I have no closet space for her.  We want to completely re-arrange our bedroom (the bed is in a corner wall, and she has to crawl over me to get in/out).  Her mother also sent over some linens (it's a traditional mother-daughter wedding gift), and she wants to use.  She jokes with me that my kingdom is over--- but I'm glad to give up my kingdom for her..  She saw all my Disney merchandise, and made a comment that that it is too much....  Humh...  Have to work on that...  I still have one week of vacation left this year, and told her we could go to DL, but she said she wants to spend a week on the beach....  Of course, we could do both in California... We will see.

Her family in particular doesn't collect anything.  In fact her home in China (three bedroom) is around 950 square feet.  Simply don't have the room.  When she sees things like my monorail, she thinks they are extravagent and unnecessary...  In fact she said I have so many toys, that if we have children, no need to buy toys...  I'll need to work on this..
