Very close Danette.  Yes, he did win a lifetime "Golden Pass" to Disney parks for his "achievement".  Does anyone know what his achievement is?

Okay, was his achievement being the 10th million visitor? I know I know that name from somewhere.

Danette, your getting very close...

He was in the right place in the right time, and a certain special visitior to Disneyland.  Some hints - the right time was 1:00AM.  He has had many golden passes in his lifetime.  In his lifetime of coming to the park, he has heard Walt Disney speak.

He was the first person to buy a ticket to Disneyland (I think the first to enter was a group of kids?). He got in line to buy the ticket at like 1 or 2 am.

Very good everyone..

Yes--- Dave MacPherson was the first person to buy a ticket for Disneyland.  On July 17, 1955, the park was open -- but only to invited guests (this was the ABC special), and is considered the first day of operation of the park.  Dave saw this special on tv, and being 22 at the time and a college student, decided that he wanted to be the first paying person in the park.  He arrived around 1:00 AM on July 18th (they were testing the Jungle Cruise at that time and he could hear them while waiting), got in line around 2:00AM and then bought the first ticket to Disneyland when the park opened.  Walt actually took photos with the first two children in line (who were behind Dave), but Dave bought the first the first ticket.

Now his day at DL--- he was tired.  He listened to Walt Disney make a speech, went to the restroom, and went back home.  Supposedly he threw away his ticket too.  Could you imagine how much that is worth??

For this accomplishment, Dave has had lifetime passes to Disneyland (for himself and 3 other), and now is issued a "Golden Pass" every year.
