Thanks for the compliment.  I like to keep mental notes of things I've seen or heard about the parks.  I guess it's the odd little things that stick out.

Anyways, it wasn't a train..

As a hint, this form of transportation actually "landed" on Disney property.

Closer... Humh...  Some other hints -- The inventer of this form of transportation was a Russian who immigrated to to America.  The inventor had his company named after him, and they continue today to be a USA Defense contractor.

I cheated (again) and looked it up after Jake suggested something (turns out he was right). I'm gonna see if anyone else guesses it first though.

Hey, if Jake guessed it, then he should pick the next question.  BTW: I really think this would have been an amazing experience to do, especially flying over the city and seeing Disneyland at night.

Ha! I couldn't even get him to log on and post the answer (although he liked saying over and over again that he was right I should listen to him more often, boys!) much less post a question. Not that he's a slacker like me on that aspect, he just doesn't get the chance to log on 'cause he says I "hog" the computer, which is why we're trying to get a desktop.

Very good Mynde.  In fact LA Airways was a commercial helicopter airline, which and had a heliport at Disneyland, and you could fly directly there from LAX.  The helicopter, the Sikorsky S-61 could carry a combination of 30 passangers/crew.

Unfortunately, two very tragic accidents occurred in 1968, one from Disneyland Heliport to LAX and one from LAX to the Disneyland heliport.  A total of 44 people in the two accidents.

A very nice site about the Disneyland Heliport can be seen at:
