The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

Day 6, Wednesday, Sept 10th

We started the day off by going to the Animal Kingdom. I had only one goal in mind and that was to watch The Nemo Musical. But before I could look at the times for that we had to go get fast passes for the Safari. With our fast passes in hand we head back to the Pizzari to get lunch. It was going on noon. For lunch we had 2 pizzas, one kid’s pasta, & 1 kid’s pbj, for dessert we had 2 frozen lemonades. Here is my complaint about this place. It is a pizza place and they have no kid’s pizza on the kid’s selection what is up with that. Also they would not keep the lemonades till we finished, we had to take them all at once. Lunch came to $33.13

During lunch the in-laws called to report they was in the park. So went met up with them after our meal and we all noticed how hot it was going to be today. It was also then we was going to make the 3:15 show of Nemo. After lunch Kyan spotted the hair wrap location and decided she would like to have that done. It turned out cute and was fairly inexpensive $27 and it is still in her hair today.

After the hair wrap we caught It’s Tough to be a Bug. We went to get fast passes for Kali River Rapids but it was closed for fast passes and the stand by was 70minutes. Sorry but I was not waiting that long for a few minutes ride. So instead we got fast passes for Expedition Everest. We then decided to walk through the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

We was almost through the trail when the winds picked up fast and furious and we just knew it was going to rain. So we took the time to get the ponchos on the kids and get everything covered. No sooner than we had gotten ready it down poured. We decided to head for the safari knowing the animals would love the rain and we was right. We had a great safari.

After the safari I asked Troy the time and it was close to 3:00 with us all thinking the show started at 3:45. I knew we needed to head that way to get in line. We get over there by the line and they all stop for a drink but I head to get in line. That is to my horror that the show actually started at 3:15 and it was 3:05. AHHH!! I called them and immediately told them to high tail it over here because I was going in without them. I was not going to miss this show again this year. So I get all the way to the front of the building and I stop and wait because they are coming. It is at this time that I watch one cast member tell the other cm to move the strollers that people parked in front of the show. He told her to put them in “BFE” I just died laughing the other CM had no clue what he was talking about and he looked at me and said, “See she knows what I was talking about.” I looked at him and said, “if you give me VIP seating I won’t tell” I was just teasing and I knew that my chances for seeing this show was dying again in front of me. He went to check his clip board and told me they were closing the door to people and that the VIP was full for this show. I went on to say that I have missed this show the last 3 years because of my family and it looks like I will miss it again. He said, “Well if you come back for the next show at 4, we will get VIP seating and be let in first” I could have kissed Joel. I was so happy that I almost cried. So, I gave Joel my name and the number in the party. It was at this time Troy called and said, “ Go ahead and watch the show they stopped the line in front of us. “ I told him about Joel and the dream he granted for me and do you know what my husband said, “See, it helped that we was way late” I could have smacked him. And I told him we would be getting their on time for this.

So to kill the time we headed to Dinosaur. We had a little bit of a wait but it was air conditioned and sheltered from the rain. We all climb into Dinosaur and I could have swore that ride wasn’t that bad, just that bad part with the dinosaur. Well nope, it was jerky and ruff and the T-rex scared the crap out of Kyan and Emma. Both girls were hiding and almost in tears. When we get off my brother-in-law wanted to kill me but it didn’t matter because I was heading to the Nemo Musical. We get there and check-in and we get to go in front of all the people in line and walk right up to the entry door. We was the first family in and we choose seats in the very front section next to the walk way but on the right side of it. All I have to say about the show was that it was absolutely amazing. It had to be the best show we have every seen at Disney. We will be going back to watch it again. The kids loved it and after the show Joel asked how we liked it. And we couldn’t have thanked him enough.

Now it was EMH and we had fast passes for Expedition Everest. So we went that way. Troy however ticked me off. Without asking or thinking he just left me there with all the girls and he, Trey, and the in-laws went to ride. I was a little ticked that he could waited with me or asked me if I mind to wait and then we will go again. But no he proceed to not think. So when they got off, I was mad. I took Kyan and left for awhile I needed me time without everyone. I had steam to blow off. It was then I realized I didn’t have the confirmation number for the meal tonight. So I called Disney Dining. The lady tells me we do not have a reservation for tonight it is tomorrow. I was hot, I said this is impossible I called and confirmed and did make a change to the reservation but I only added 3 people to the reservation. The lady from Disney admitted that it was their fault but nothing could be done now. I asked to speak to someone in management. I was gave a Dining Specialist she tried to explain they only had one reservation at Whispering Canyon Café for 9pm. I told her that was not acceptable because we had 3 smaller children eating with us and they do not eat that late. She tried everything so I asked to speak with her manager. She did but only after I let her put us in for the 9pm reservation. I finally get to speak to the manager and she was so rude, so horrible, and flat out ticked me off. I told her it was unacceptable for my children to eat that late. “Would you let your children eat dinner at 9?” She told me her children eat that late every night. That was the wrong answer for me. I then told her the people I spoke with before her admitted it was their fault and she needed to make this right. She said well you have a reservation at 9 tonight or I can get you in at the Trail Ends Buffet. She was telling me about the buffet and the price and I told her she was downgrading our meal from $23 a person to $18. It was not happening. I told her we have been vacationing here the past 7 years and we have never had a problem with Disney Dining or have we been treated that way. Then she said, “ You have been here the last 7 years and never ate at the Whispering Canyon Café, you must not know what you are doing” That was it, I proceeded to tell her I will never deal with them again and I will be rethinking our family vacation for next year” Then I hung up and cried. Never in my life have I ever been treated that way but a person working for Disney. I called Troy and he was upset. He went to guest relations and AK and all they could do was apologize and give us an email to write to. We decided to leave, I needed to get away from all the crap for awhile. Troy goes to the front desk at the hotel and they act like it is no big deal because we ended up with a reservation tonight at 9. Why is it they think it is all right and fixed when they treat you like crap.

I was so exhausted when we got to the room, I had been crying and I was mad. I did not want to go but Troy insisted. So we finally get ready to go to the meal. We are on the boat going to the Wilderness Lodge and we got to see Wishes from the boat ride and the music was piped in. It would have been nice if I wasn’t still upset. After the ride we check-in and could you believe we still had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. It wasn’t helping my mood. We are finally seated and we place our order for the skillets for adults and the kids had burger and mac & cheese. We all ordered the bottom less milkshakes for our drinks, Troy & I had caramel, Kyan had orange, Emma had cotton candy and Deb & Trey had chocolate. Scott ordered a Root Beer after asking the brand. For starters we had salad with cornbread. It was very good. Our drinks were also served and Scott was brought out this huge mason jar. He didn’t know what to say. Then during our meal my phone rings and I die. I had been seeing what the servers had been doing when someone is on the phone and I didn’t want it to happen to me. So, I answer and it’s my aunt she wanted to talk to the kids. So, I tell her to make it quick and when the phone makes it back to me no one is on so I hang up. Two minutes later it rings again, this time I barely say “hi” and the waiter walks by and goes, “Again with the phone, give it here” So, he takes my phone and walks off with it talking to my aunt. He has everyone in the restaurant yell, “Hi Aunt Jessica” and then told her he would send her take out. When I get my phone back, Trey asks for ketchup. He yells “Ketchup!!!” and 13 bottles arrive to the table. The food was served and it was so good. There was bbq ribs, pulled pork, chicken, shrimp, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, slaw, & baked beans. Everything was great and we was all too full for dessert so we got it to go. We got the kids worm in dirt and we got one chocolate moose & cheesecake. The total came to $95.60

So, for a ruff evening the meal was defiantly nice however we was the last table to leave the restaurant so what does that tell you.

Total Free Dining Today: $143.73

Total Free Dining for Trip:$701.41

Total Out of Pocket Expense:$32.70

Up next….The most magical moment possible for the kids……Ohana’s…..

I'm sorry that happened to you guys! I would be ticked off as well! Have you written an email complaining? So now I know to take my confirmation numbers in with me, and yes, I did call and confirm all my reservations (cancelled one actually) so far we're still good. Hopefully it stays that way.

Well, at least you got VIP for Nemo! I'm really hoping we get this in when we go (in 10 days!!!).

Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic! dining package. We had to cancel it to do MNSSHP for the discounted price, plus I've heard that we won't need the dining package at that time of year. We're gonna take our chances.

good idea D.  You know my feelings on H&V...

K...yea you finally saw Nemo!!! I love that one too!  All the colors and ribbons etc etc etc.  I'm so glad you got VIP......I bet you were about to have a break down (earlier) when you thought you'd miss it again!!!!

Now...for the dining...I'm SO sorry that happened!  I hope you send an email with the name of the woman who was so rude!!  But I'm glad that the meal and atmosphere were worth the 9pm resies!

Did you get to go back and ride Everest??  I HATE when I get stuck with the younger ones and everyone else just takes off...like I don't enjoy riding rides etc?!

$26 is cheap for that little yarn hair thing???!!!  OMG!!!!  I thought $8 for face painting was bad!!!!!  At least it's still in! Yikes!

The charge per inch on the hair wrap and then they charge for the beads also.

Your face painting was $8 the kid's was $15 each. and they washed it off about 6 hours later.

Oh maybe it was $15.  Never mind!    the kids had their whole faces done and kept it on till we went swimming that night.  Joshua LOVED it.  Everyone would growl at him and snarl their fingers (know what I mean?) at him.  He was a Tiger.  And in all of the pictures of him that day he's making snarling menacing faces.  Too cute!

You know that if B had asked to have her hair done I would have let her too! We were both thinking of doing the braid stand thing but never wanted to sit down and do it.

The lady at the AK was really fast and Kyan was patient. So you know if a 4 yr old can hold still and wait you guys could too. And it's still in and it has been over a month.
