| I spent another day at DL with my new annual pass yesterday. Between both days of walking almost constantly for 2-3 hours I think I've lost a few pounds! I feel more energized and just happier in general. It's such a great place.
I walked past Happy Birthdayland and watched a little bit of Mickey and Minnie hosting a child's party. It was so cute. Mickey really kept things rolling, with songs and a conga line, and this was just for the two minutes I watched. It's a little secluded, being behind tall bushes in Tomorrowland - almost like a private party. Most of the children were dressed up in costumes. Adorable.
There were also quite a few kids in line to meet Buzz Lightyear, get his autograph and shake his hand. Buzz seems to have lots of fans. BTW, that new Buzz Lightyear attraction is so much fun! I got in one of the carts by myself and went through the ride shooting my laser gun at all the targets. I thought I was doing pretty well to get 27,000 points until I noticed that the two boys in front of me had racked up 480,000 points. Oh well, I still had enough points to make me an Ace Space Pilot.
Captain Jack Sparrow is a prominent figure at DL these days, with his new role in the Pirates ride and him walking around the park and all. For $22 you can buy a red scarf just like his with really long dreadlocks attached. Lots of other pirate gear all over the place. Looks like pirates will be popular for Halloween.
I see they are building Nemo's Submarine Adventure and was told it should be open in June. For those of you who recall the old submarine ride, it was always a highlight to a DL trip and something unlike anything else. They must be rebuilding over the old sub site with new effects and characters. I can hardly wait!
There is a nice pathway between Fantasyland and Frontierland that goes past the river and is really a nice shady spot for a quiet stroll. There are a few benches around and some snack vendors. You could probably walk over there to quiet down some over-excited kids if the need arose.
While standing in line at Big Thunder Railroad I was feeling pretty hot and thirtsty and what appeared in front of me? A beautiful drinking water foundtain. Almost like I wished it and it appeared! The folks at Disney really like to please their guests. All the "cast members" are polite and helpful and it makes everything run smoothly. There are little details like the water fountain all over the park. Benches where you need them, everything very clean and plentiful. Disneyland does everything first class.
I am very tempted to buy a book on how to identify plants because when you really look around DL and if you spend much time there like I have, you begin to notice all the incredible landscaping. The plants were all selected carefully and groomed to fit the style and locale of the place where they grow. Some of them have a light scent if you rub your hands on the leaves or get up close. If you are at all interested in gardening and horticulture, there is a lot to feast your eyes on.
One of these days I'll feel the need to go to California Adventure Park and spend time there, but for now I'm still getting reacquainted with DL. Can you tell I love it?

| | You love it as much as I do Surfergirl. Thanks so much for posting. I really enjoyed reading about your day! I thing Disneyland has a book about their gardens, so next time you go you might check to see if you can pick it up. You should be able to get it in Disneyland, but if not, Off the Page in California Advenure should have it too. I love Buzz too and sometimes get my own car, depending on who Alex wants to ride with. lol You have never seen the drinking fountains in the Big Thunder queue? lol Leanne

May All Your Days Be Filled With Magic! And your nights full of Disney Dreams! |
