Goofy's Kitchen Character Meal Review (2005)

Goofy's Kitchen is a fantastic character meal located at the Disneyland Hotel. This is the longest running and most well known character meal at the Disneyland Resort.

Goofy's Kitchen is open daily for breakfast until 1pm (2pm on Saturdays.) They reopen for dinner at 5pm. Because of the crowds priority seating is highly recommended and you can make reservations 60 days in advance by calling 714-781-DINE.

As of September 2005, Breakfast/Brunch prices are $27.25 per adult and $14.86 per child aged 3-11. Hours for the breakfast/brunch are 7:00am until 12 noon during the week and until 2pm on weekends. Dinner prices are $35.96 per adult and $14.86 per child aged 3-11. Dinner hours are from 5 to 9 daily. These prices do include tax and tip. Do also keep in mind that if you have an AAA card, you can get 10% off those prices!

At Goofy's Kitchen there are two characters you are pretty much guaranteed to see. Goofy, as the 'cook', is always there. And 99% of the time Pluto is outside for picture taking and general goofing off. There are usually about six characters per meal and they do vary. The one character you will never see at Goofy's Kitchen is Mickey Mouse. His sweetheart, Minnie Mouse, does appear on occasion. You will usually have at least 1 Princess among the characters. If the characters seem to be missing your table please let someone know and the situation will be rectified very quickly.

This is the ultimate in character dining. Everything works like clockwork here. The guests stay at their tables except to get food and the characters come to the tables. Once an hour all children are invited to dance with Goofy and the other characters in attendance. One of the most popular dances here is the Gooferana. Goofy's version of the Macarena. It is a very high-energy dance loved by children and adults alike.

While Goofy's Kitchen is known for the character interaction it is not know for the food. Here you will find a very large buffet. In the morning you can have an omelet made for you or choose from many other breakfast items. You will also usually find many lunch type items in the later morning… not officially 'lunch' but a great brunch. For dinner, there is usually a carving table and many different choices: including beef, chicken, and fish on most evenings.

The dessert buffet is absolutely huge; and if nothing else, totally fun to look at for the dessert names. There is also an ice cream bar if you prefer that type of dessert.

The food here is not the best nor is it the worst. Usually it is hot and edible and there are always many choices. We tend to find the breakfast/brunch items the best.

This is a highly recommended character meal. While it is expensive, you are definitely going to have fun seeing the characters, and the staff is friendly, and quick to please.

The following reviewed is by disneydreamer of the DisneyMouseLinks.com forums:

Goofy's Kitchen, located at the Disneyland Hotel

This is a buffet style brunch, serving breakfast items to lunch items. In fact we got a kick out of just looking at all the items on the food lines here. You have your standard fruit, eggs, bacon, and sausage & made to order omelets, but also pastries, pancakes, and waffles. Then you could also get Mac & Cheese, Peanut Butter & Jelly Pizza, Cheese Enchiladas, Cheese & Pepperoni Pizza, and Smoked Salmon. You also had desserts of "Dirt & Worms", Brownies, & Cookies. There was something there for every appetite. The characters were plentiful here as well & this was a very fun breakfast to attend.

Out of the 3 character meals, I would rate the food here #2 (if rating on selection #1)
