Monthly Weather at Disneyland

Monthly Weather at Disneyland

A frequently asked question:  What is the weather like at Disneyland in _______ (insert month).  And here I will answer that question for you!

Weather tables have been done for Anaheim for years to collect the average high temperature, low temperature and rainfall for each day of the year over almost 20 years.  In depth searching on the internet can give you those numbers, or you can simply read on to find out what the ‘typical’ weather is for each month.

Please keep in mind that these temperatures and rainfall amounts are averages over several years.  The numbers do not take heat or cold snaps into consideration.  Instead this is what the typical Anaheim weather SHOULD be each month.  If you are planning a trip you can take these numbers into consideration, but keep in mind these don’t actually guarantee what the weather will be like when you are at the Disneyland Resort.

In this listing, the high temperatures are daytime temps, while the lows are for nighttime, after dark.  If you are planning on going during a rainy month be sure to dress for the weather and enjoy a very empty Disneyland.  Local folks don’t go on the rainy days and others leave when the rain begins to fall.  While most rides stay open during the rain you can get a lot of riding in with hardly any wait times.

Another important thing to note is that humidity can greatly affect the weather.  When it is very humid with heat it becomes sticky and uncomfortable outside.  When humidity is high with cold temperatures the cold can seem even more chilly, even biting.

Also, while this information can give you good planning strategies, it is a must to check the 10 day forecast for Anaheim before you pack.  The past few years in Anaheim have been anything but typical because of vicious heat spells and unexpected cold spells.

January:

Disneyland in January is a great time to go.  The weather is usually mild with high temperatures in the upper 60’s.  Low temperatures can be anywhere from 40-50 degrees.  Shorts and light shirts should be fine during the day but slacks and light jackets are recommended at night.

January is the third highest month in rain totals with an average of just under 2 ½ inches during the month. With this in mind, it would be a good idea to take rain jackets or be prepared to purchase ponchos while at the Resort.

Record High: 95 (2003)

Record Low:  30 (2002)

February:

Disneyland in February is a great time to go.  The weather is usually mild with high temperatures in the upper 60’s.  Low temperatures can be anywhere from 40-50 degrees.  Shorts and light shirts should be fine during the day but slacks and light jackets are recommended at night.

February is the highest month in rain totals with an average of just under 3 inches during the month. With this in mind, it would be a good idea to take rain jackets or be prepared to purchase ponchos while at the Resort.

Record High: 91 (1995)

Record Low:  30 (1990)

March:

Disneyland in March is a great time to go with slightly higher temperatures and a bit less rain.  The weather is usually mild with high temperatures in the upper 60’s to low 70’s.  Low temperatures are usually in the upper 40’s to low 50’s.  Shorts and light shirts should be fine during the day but slacks and light jackets are recommended at night.

March is the second highest month in rain totals with an average of just over 2 ½ inches during the month. With this in mind, it would be a good idea to take rain jackets or be prepared to purchase ponchos while at the Resort.

Record High: 97 (2007)

Record Low:  37 (2002)

April:

April is wonderful because the Spring temperatures are much more mild and the rain is almost non-existent.  You will find temperatures in the low 70’s during the day, and low 50’s at night. Shorts and light shirts should be fine during the day but light jackets are recommended at night.

April gets hardly any rain with just over ½ inch throughout the month.  Checking the 10 day forecast before packing is the smart way to plan for an April Disneyland vacation.

Record High: 106 (2004)

Record Low:  38 (1999)

May:

May is a catch-22 weather wise.  Approaching summer temperatures can be much warmer in the mid 70’s.  Lows are in the upper 50’s.  This is one of the months where lately the weather has been a bit erratic.  Definitely do your long term planning with this information, but check the 10 day forecast before packing.  We have been during the first week of May in the past few years where temperatures were approaching 100 degrees.

Record High: 106 (2004)

Record Low:  45 (1999)

Record High: 107 (1991)

Record Low:  45 (2002)

November:

November is when you start getting a glimpse of winter in southern California.  Daytime temperatures take a big drop to lower 70’s while nighttime temperatures hover very close to the 50 degree mark.

November is also the time when a possibility of rain once again occurs.  The average rainfall in November is less than one inch, but higher than those other ‘non’ rainfall months.

Record High: 99 (1997)

Record Low:  33 (1994)

December:

Winter at Disneyland and the forecast is for snow.  At least on Main Street and the Small World Mall!  Even in winter though, the temperatures stay mild with daytime temps around 70 degrees you will usually find shorts very comfortable.  Nighttime though, the temperatures drop into the mid 40’s so be prepared to layer well, or go back to the hotel when the sun goes down.

Rain is also a good possibility in December with average rainfall close to 1 ½ inches.

Record High: 99 (1997)

Record Low:  32 (1998)
