History of Pluto

Pluto unlike Goofy, was created to be a dog, not a human, and therefore has no speaking voice. He first appeared in the Chain Gang in 1930 along with Mickey Mouse as a bloodhound. Also in 1930 Pluto appeared with Minnie Mouse as Rover, her pet dog in 'The Picnic'. It was not until the 'Moose Hunt' that Pluto became himself and has since been known as Mickey's best pal and his dog.

Pluto is known to actually think; and this became abundantly clear in the cartoon 'Playful Pluto' in 1934. In this short he is stuck to a piece of fly paper and has to figure out for himself how to get loose.

While Pluto doesn't talk he does have distinctive sounds and there are voice actors needed to voice him. The original voice of Pluto was Pinto Colvig; followed by Lee Miller Sr, Clarence Nash and James MacDonald. The current 'voice' of Pluto is Bill Farmer.

In cartoons Pluto is often paired with Mickey, Minnie, Donald or Chip and Dale.

This lovable pet is known for his silliness and antics that are enough to make anyone laugh.
