The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror Description
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is an indoor thrill ride, and the theme is from the former television show the Twilight Zone.
You, the rider are touring an old hotel that was very famous in Hollywood before something happened to cause this magnificent hotel to fall into ruin. As you prepare to enter the room for your pre-show, you will see a dirty, dank lobby and you can easily imagine the former opulence in the hotel.
The hotel Library is where you will see the pre-show. On an old black and white television, Rod Serling comes to life to introduce you to the plot of the ride. As you watch this show, the room is in darkness, to help lend a feeling of eeriness.
Once the pre-show is over you will exit the room and head toward the service elevators. From the point of the Library to your elevator can be quite a line as you wait in the former boiler room. There are many things to look at here as you wait your turn.
As you board your service elevator, you will strap yourself in and prepare for the ride of your life. The cast member in this position plays greatly into the plot of the old hotel. As the doors close and your ride begins, the lights will go out.
You will see the former residents of the hotel before you take your first plunge through darkness.
The Tower of Terror elevator will quickly move you up and down several times, giving you a feeling of weightlessness in the process. When you reach the top you can see forever and enjoy a birds-eye view of California Adventure.
The queue for the Tower of Terror is both indoors and outdoors. This is a Fastpass ride so the line is split at the entrance. When it is not busy, all guests will enter through the Fastpass line. The outdoor area of the queue doesn’t provide much entertainment, but once you enter the lobby of the hotel you will have much to look at as you get a glimpse into the past.
Once you are loaded onto your service elevator, this ride will last approximately 4 minutes.
