White Water Snacks Review 2007

We had occasion to eat at White Water Snacks in the Grand Californian Hotel a few times on our trip in May.  Once it was simply Andy, Alex and I eating lunch there.  I ordered the beef nachos; Andy had a burger, and Alex a hot dog kid’s meal.  I was very shocked when the food came out.  This was the first time we had ordered nachos and the serving was simply huge.  This would have made a great dinner or lunch for two people.  The beef was incredible.  We ate this meal the day after our meal at Tortilla Joes where I was not impressed at all with my meal.  One of the first comments I made about the nachos was that the meat was better than what I had the day before at Tortilla Joes.  As usual, the burger and hot dog were also very well done, and tasted great.  I will definitely order the nachos again.  Andy and I enjoyed ice cold beers with our lunch, and the total cost for the three of us was $30.24.

On our other experience at White Water Snacks was for dinner, and our friend Kevin joined us for this meal.  At this meal I ordered my standard French dip, while Andy ordered a cheeseburger.  This, like the nachos is a huge sandwich that can easily be shared.  The bun is nicely toasted, the meat tender and the au jus fantastic.  Kevin had the chicken sandwich which he said was fantastic.  Again, Alex had the hot dog kid’s meal.  We adults enjoyed some ice cold beer with this meal and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves before heading to California Adventure.  For the three of us (Kevin refused to let me pay for his meal) our dinner was $37.02.

There are a few reasons we simply love White Water Snack.  The food is always wonderful; the cast members always have a smile and are willing to help.  The prices are great when you consider standard theme park faire.  The atmosphere here is quiet and rustic in a log cabin type setting.  The patio is fenced in, surrounded by foliage and if you look closely you just may see a kitty waiting for a bite to eat.

We had just one disappointment with White Water Snacks but it had nothing to do with food.  We had planned on dining here on Saturday May 5th for dinner, and got there at 7:10pm only to find out that they closed at 7pm on a busy Saturday night.  Granted it was ‘off-season’ but the crowds that weekend were amazing.  So, if you plan on enjoying dinner at one of our favorite places to eat, be sure to check how late they are open so you don’t get surprised like we did!

I highly recommend White Water Snacks for a low-key, filling and great tasting meal.  White Water Snacks is something different to enjoy while relaxing for a few minutes before getting back on your feet to enjoy Disneyland or California Adventure.
